Best way to follow a topic?
but is there a way for me to get an email of any replies to topics I would like to follow? ?(I don't see a 'follow' button..)Well, not quite. But there is a "follow" but doesn't work for group when your subscription is to receive all emails. I found it useful. In the "all messages" subscription, you can mute topics - see your email footer for this, for example. Something to suggest (perhaps in the new year) in Beta - add a followWhat would this do? If you are set to All Messages you are effectively following everything. About the only effect I can imagine is as preparation for a subsequent switch to Following Only. And no way that I can see to add a post to my list of "followed"You can do that via the web, but you have to find the topic / hashtag via the Your Groups area, accessed via the Groups.io logo. This is in the help page, but I agree it is really obscure and needs a better user interface. /static/help#muting And no way that I know of for tracking my "likes".That's true. Hi, Frances, A member wants to only get emails for threads that she follows.?? Is there ever a button or link displayed in the web interface for Messages that allows a user to follow to the thread? I haven't been able to find a combination of Subscription and Advanced Preferences that would allow that. THANKS for your work here in the forum.

Go to Subscription in group home page. Menu on the left. Scroll down to Advanced Preferences. Open by going to the arrow on the right. In email footers there is a Follow. More in the GMF wiki. Thanks, Frances.? Is the only way to subscribe to a topic (while on the website) the Feed, Topics screen as described here:?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Managing-Muted-and-Followed-Topics? Here's the scenario I'm asking about:? A member doesn't want any emails unless they decide they like a specific topic.? A member is reading the latest posts by clicking on the Messages tab and then on a topic. She is reading a thread in a topic. She decides to subscribe to the topic.? Are you saying she has to leave the message, climb out to Groups.io and then Topics and then find the topic?! I'm surprised that the footer of the web view of a message doesn't have this option. It only has "Reply" and "Like" and "More" |

What you propose would require the "footer" (for lack of a better term) of the web view of messages to be dynamically rendered based on an individual subscriber's Advanced Preferences. In the email footer, there is a Follow link - if you have the Advanced Preferences activated. It does bring you to a web-based link that you must click. Perhaps she would prefer to do one of a few other options. - She could subscribe to Daily Summary.? - or if she wants no email at all, subscribe to Special Notices (I like to disable No Mail, but that's up to the group owner.) Then she goes to Groups.io (logged in) and clicks on Groups.io and looks at Feed. Feed is amazing - it gives you just the subject of recent posts (nested by topic) and any upcoming events. Try it yourself. No changes needed. Just go to Groups.io and click on Feed. However the only other suggestion is to create subgroups. That are always on topic!
