Avoiding storing attached photos

With my group up against the free storage limit, I find a lot of duplicate photos stored
due to a reply to a message that had a photo attached.
I find no way to avoid including the photo when replying, but I'm sure there is a way.
I can always delete the duplicates periodically but it is time consuming.
How to avoid storing the duplicates?
Thanks,
Richard

This is a common problem. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/32652796?for a recent discussion.

Using the GIO web interface, simply do not quote that portion of the original message.?Using your email client, the methods differ widely...there is no single answer.?

Groups.io has no way to determine if an incoming photo was sent intentionally or inadvertently. Even a dupe can be intentional.

You could put all messages with attachments on moderation (Admin>Settings>Message Formatting>Attachments) and delete any dupes before they post. Otherwise, there is no way to keep this from happening, and you will have to continue to clean things up after the fact.

Ray,
?
Like Bruce mentioned, moderate any messages with an attachment. :)
?
I've seen some of the gmx emails with soft nudity images attached as ads.? So, moderating ANY messages with attachments is a good thing really.
?
To prevent emails with attachments coming in, set the resolution to something like 488x488, it's about the size of a 3x5 card and is very small in KB size.
?
Another option, create a members upload FILE section that you can moderate.? Then move the FILE to another location for read, viewing, download access only.
?
These are all suggestions, some or all could be applicable to how your group wants to function.

The Group has a lot of how to do it messages, many requiring a photo.
Sometimes the photos are embedded in a message.
Does that add something to the storage used?

Doing any kind if Moderation greatly increases my administrative workload.
Otherwise, it sounds like what I have been doing is the best way.

When the Group transferred? from Yahoo I set limits on photos and it has helped.
