Allow Non-Subscribers to Post Without Moderation?
#moderation
We are struggling with a need to allow non-subscribers to post without moderation, but I don't see how to do that.? I did an email integration, but the address was ridiculous, and our members rebelled.
Here's our scenario.? We have two groups: one for our condo HOA members, and one for the Board of Directors.? We want the Board to be able to receive messages from outside the group (e.g., external contractors and HOA members), but we are overwhelmed with the need for moderation actions.? I tried setting up a subgroup for the Board inside the HOA members group, but even email to the subgroup from the main group seem to need moderation.? And the integration email address seems to be a non-starter. Is there a way to whitelist email addresses from outside the group or sub-group? Thanks. |
Dave,
We are struggling with a need to allow non-subscribers to post withoutIntegrations are intended for single senders, such as a snotification service. Group members should not be using them. We have two groups: one for our condo HOA members, and one for theI believe that is your only option at present. I tried setting up a subgroup for the Board inside the HOA membersThat would be the right answer, if and when there is an option to allow primary group members to post to a subgroup without moderation. I think that got lost because it was a reply in another topic. Perhaps you should make a new topic specifically for this suggestion. I would suggest that groups.io may not be a good fit for what you want for incoming board email.? Mark may be reticent to allow groups to open up posting privileges to any email sender.
I setup a Google group for our board and changed the post permissions to allow anyone to post to the group. (we also use Google docs for a shared document repository for the board) Then I setup a mail forwarding address on our domain: board@... forward to -> <groupname>@googlegroups.com. If you ever decide to switch from groups.io to some other site for the HOA members, the board archive is unaffected. My 2? worth.. Toby |
Shal, thanks for your thoughts.? Maybe someday...
Toby, this is an intriguing idea, but we don't have an enterprise account or a separate domain which I believe you need for this.? I'm thinking we just need to use Google Groups for the Board list, and keep our HOA unit owners in Groups.io. ? Thanks, Dave |
Dave,
Maybe someday...The way to get someday to arrive sooner is to post the request in beta, the official Groups.io suggestion box. No one from Groups.io monitors GMF so the request will go unheard if only discussed here. Dave,
You don't need an Enterprise account or your own domain.? The domain mail forwarding is just a "nice to have". A Google group is your best bet.? A?separate groups.io group for board would still not allow external email to flow in unmoderated.? You really want to have external email filtered/moderated or somehow controlled to avoid/reduce spam.? The Google group will do spam filtering and notify you when it's detected.? As long as it looks like legitimate email, it should come in. Toby |
