problem creating

?? Sandy ??

I'm trying to start another? group (4 tries now) but each time I've gotten this email:?This is an automated message. Your group?[email protected]?has been denied.

The reason is that groups dedicated to sharing graphics and stationary are not permitted. I don't know?what?that means?

I don't know what that means.
It means Groups.io believes your group would engage in activities that breach its terms of service such as illegally sharring copyright material.

Andy

Of course not. Why would they even assume that?

I don¡¯t know what you put down as planned content for your new group.

It is a sad fact that most stationery, tag and other graphic related groups are illegally sharing copyrighted content. ?The copyright compliant groups are a tiny minority (mine is). ? This is why this restriction for new groups was introduced.

It is never ok to send illegal stuff/stuff explicity forbidden in the Terms through any io group¡

Groups can and are closed if found out to go against the Terms and Conditions.

You can read about the change in site policy at .? (Mark is the site owner.)? I happen to know that there was a group closed within the last month because a copyright owner complained.

Stephanie -- New graphics-sharing groups are not being approved. Existing groups were grandfathered.?

Yes, there has been a history of copyright infringement by bad actors, resulting in DMCA takedown requests. Such things give groups.io a bad reputation. As if that wasn't sufficient, there are other reasons...a main one being an accumulation of Basic groups that send lots of large attachments (thus taking up the lion's share of email server resources) while contributing nothing to the bottom line.

See the last bullet at?/helpcenter/faq/1/group-owner-moderator-faq/q-what-types-of-groups-are-not?and also the link Duane gave you where this new policy was announced.

Bruce
