Hello and a couple of questions
Donna Coppin
Last week I started a new group, ScrappyQuilters@io?and everything was going fine.? I then was hacked a second time, that was the reason for starting this group as I wanted to get away from FB for a while.? My? new email was on google.com and I was getting set up but my hacker migrated with me, and being just a bit paranoid, I changed to a myyahoo.com account and I am not sure what happened but my 2 accounts merged.? I no longer have the gmail account that I started the group with and I am now just a NMM (new member, moderated) even though I started and own the group.? How do I get back to being owner or do I have to start a new group and then merge the two groups or what?? I would love to have it back the way it was before this happened.??
Thank you for? your help! Donna Coppin thepinkquilter@...? |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý>>> I am not sure what happened but my 2 accounts merged.?Are you sure the two accounts were merged?? Did you get a "Are you sure you want to merge..." message when you changed the address from the gmail to the yahoo one? >>> I no longer have the gmail account that I started the group with Do you mean you don't have the gmail account address at all anymore, or you do but no groups.io account with that gmail address, i.e. if you try to log out and log back into gio with the gmail account this time, do you get a "That email address does not have a groups.io account" error message? Merged, yes I did get a message but when I agreed I wasn't completely sure what was happening as I had just deleted my gmail account.? I had my old account (luv2cutfab@...) for over 10 years and it was hacked.? I then created a new account at gmail and she followed me. That's when I started ScrappyQuilters here.? I was doing fine and then earlier this week I was not able to get into groups.io.? I then went to yahoo and started a new account and exported all the info from gmail to there.? It said did I want to merge and I thought that was what needed to be done.? It's a real mixup.? Yes, that email address does not have a groups.io account" error message.? Right now I am so tired of it all that I might just give up on it and also someone is impersonating me on FB.?
Thank you, |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHmm, I'm surprised the merge process didn't transfer the ownership from the gmail account to the yahoo one, as supposedly one cannot remove the owner account since that would leave the group orphaned.Since it was a merge this means you had already created the yahoo account at gio before the merge.? Did you join the group beforehand (as NMM) before doing the merge?? What was the exact timeline/sequence of things that happened or you did at that time? Also, it's too late now but when earlier this week you couldn't get into groups.io you should had done the "Email me a link to log in" option, as I assume you couldn't get in because the password was changed by her.? If you had done that, and I also assume you still had access to the gmail account, you would have gotten access then to the gio gmail account and reset the password to something else. I assume you have checked your computer for bad stuff using MalwareBytes or similar utilities for example, if not, you should because you may have some spyware installed unbeknownst to you. The next time you create a group, add a second email address as an owner as well, so if something happens to the primary email you have a back door.
