Files Folder accidently removed. Any UNDO?

 

One of our owners was responding to a "File /Business Meeting Minutes/2021/04....pdf uploaded" message from [our group].groups.io Notification [email protected]

He evidently clicked on something that deleted all of our minutes.

All of our owners received a notification:

"his name hisemail@... moved folder Business Meeting Minutes"

but with no clue as to where that folder got moved to.

When queried over the phone, he is unable to explain anything other than trying to read the pdf file.

Is there any possible way to retrieve that folder, short of uploading all those files for all those years?

Two of our owners have spent some time trying to find that folder prior to me giving up and asking for help.

But a new puzzle is now visible.

Using the Search function with Business+Meeting+Minutes as the parameter the titles all seem to be somewhere in the Files folder. But attempting to actually open or edit any one of them gets nothing.

Using the "Copy link address" on what should be the "Business Meeting Minutes" top level folder that using Cut and Paste looks something like:

Business Meeting Minutes 9files
Documents related to official business meetings, including construction business meetings.

But the link gives me something like:

https://xxxx.groups.io/g/main/files/Business%20Meeting%20Minutes/2021/03.%20Mar%202021/Business%20Meeting%20Minutes

with our group name redacted.

Attempting to follow any one of those links get a message either opens the Files folder or else opens a dialog window with the message "The file you're trying to open doesn't exist"

Did the folder get moved into a folder with an invalid address?

Clicking on the small folder icon will take you the new location.

Since the small folder glyph does not appear and the underlined blue link to the moved folder provides a link to the Files main folder, not the moved folder, it appears that our member has inadvertently stumbled into a bug.

The report is in the "Member Activity" list and not in the "Moderator Activity" list as I had expected.

The search function in the Files folder reports a total of 399 subfolders and files, but not one of the several dozen attempts to click on them has produced anything but either the Files main folder or else the error message reported earlier.

This list or erroneous link symptoms seems to indicate, to a long retired software guy, that an incomplete transaction has left some cookie crumbs, but not enough to roll back to a safe condition.

At this time, all efforts to paste in an image or to attach a small screenshot have failed. Probably, since I am still a member under moderation. A member for about two years, but with little or no need to actively request help and not enough knowledge to offer help.
