Invite template message

As I see, all standard messages (invite, etc.) have a part that I cannot change, and an optional part that I can compose. My problem is that my group speaks Italian, and some prospective members may not be proficient in English. An invite starting in English is confusing for such a reader, even if I add a optional part in Italian. Is there a way to remove the English part of such messages, or maybe to have a localized version of ? Thank you Augusto Ciuffoletti Oratorio del Santissimo |

I'm not a languages type person, but I would test something like the
different web translators against the boiler plate English content. If that was reasonably close to right, I'd put the instructions for how to do that in the local language part of the custom message to the users. I'd acknowledge what the English part is trying to say and how this gives them a way to read it. If the translator didn't do a good job, then I'd paraphrase what it I saying but include text that the boilerplate is the legally binding part and your paraphrasing is an attempt to give it a local language help. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.org www.syracusemodelrr.org |
Well, this doesn't fix the English language in the invite message but it deals with some of the problems.
There are lines that separate the words you add to the template - above and below. You can use colour for your added text. (I would be sparing though!) You can change fonts using formats. You can make your section stand out. I just tested again sending an invitation to a Gmail account and the red and Header 1 font works fine.? So perhaps you might fool around with the capability that is there. Frances -- Help available from Groups.io help and GMF wiki. ? |

So I'll tell you what my workaround is. Instead of inviting people using the web interface, I send them messages?explaining?the subscription process: send and email, wait for confirm, reply. In my mind, this is by far more straightforward than suggesting people to use a translator or highlighting text in the invite e-mail. But it requires four messages, instead of two, and so I suggest you to consider the possibility of either g¨¬ving the admin the possibility to override the templates, or provide a range of localizations. Translators may help to bulk-produce them.?? This is a user-to-user group that is NOT monitored by GIO management.? Only the beta group (and its subgroups) will catch their attention.
