I created some groups towards the end of 2019 when Yahoo first announced it was in the first stages of its process of closing its groups down.

I created a signature for myself, but some how typed a small line under my name by mistake.. followed by a longer line. I created hash tags for my group.

I've tried to edit my signature to delete the line I want to remove. Doesn't work.. I've tried to delete everything, and save it... mistake still there.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Robert

Try this:

  • Copy your current signature,
  • paste it into a straight text editor a la Notepad,
  • delete your entire signature field,
  • copy everything from the text editor,
  • paste as plain text into your signature field.
Then format to your heart's content.

So to Subscription on the group homepage. (Left side).
Don't forget to scroll to the bottom to save.

See this in FAQ in Help: ?/helpcenter/faq/1/group-member-faq/q-how-do-i-set-up-a
2 links there.

Robert,

I assume you are going all the way down on the page and clicking on Save, right?? And I also assume you are pasting text only, not HTML codes/tags pasted as text, right?? If yes, go back to your subscription and edit the signature; click on the "Show advanced toolbar" button to show the advanced options, and click on the "Source Code" button (<>), does the text shown in there agree with you see in the regular editing window?? If not, delete what's in there and paste the text signature from notepad in there; when you click on Ok and go back it should be now fixed.

If still not, or if both agree but the problem is still there, there maybe something cached somewhere; I would repeat the above view & edit? source code but just clear all the contents and click on OK, and it should (supposedly) show a blank signature box now.? Then uncheck both Use Signature For Web & email Postings checkboxes, scroll down and click on Save.? Logout of GIO, and clear your browser's cache. You can restart the browser if you want to be extra thorough.? Log into GIO, and go back and ensure it is blank as saved.? Then re-enable the Use Sig checkboxes, paste the text signature, Save.? If it still persists, then there maybe a bug, I don't know; please post here what you are pasting in that case, I mean who knows, maybe some text combination you may have in your sig could be getting interpreted as some flag/command of some sort.

Cheers,
Christos

Try taking out all of the hyphens.? The site will insert 2 -- using the standard for signatures, as mine is below.

Like Robert, I wish it didn't. I prefer the horizontal rule below.
