#changelog
Hi all,
The last two weeks' change logs: Feel free to reply to this topic if you'd like to comment on the changes. Or better yet, if you expect a lot of discussion start a new topic (or rejoin an existing one) about a specific change. NEW: You can create files in the Files section that are links toYay! Now for photos in the Photo section that links to Google Photos / Flickr / and similar services. And Albums that are links to Albums on those services! Comments about these others are also welcome: -07-24 BUGFIX: Fixed sorting of Files section search results.-07-31 CHANGE: When emailing RSVP responders, default the From line to the Please call out any you find significant. NEW: You can create files in the Files section that are links toThis feature is okay, but I'm not exactly thrilled by it. You could already put such links anywhere in your group that supports hyperlinks (the wiki, home page, even messages). I mostly see this as leading to a series of broken links as the destination files are deleted. As webmaster for several organizations, dead links are the bane of my existence. :-) CHANGE: Locking a topic that contains a poll now also now closes the poll. This change definitely strikes me as a step backward. I see no reason why we shouldn't be able to close a topic and still allow the vote to proceed. In fact, Robert's Rules requires that discussion be closed before a vote is taken. That's going to be difficult to enforce without separate controls. Regards, Bruce? Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |

Mark now reports that this change has been rolled back (ref:?).I currently have three (3) open polls running in my group, and did not lock them when I created them to prevent email replies (as I always use to do), because recently on a previous poll when I did so, I noticed no one could vote.? So to keep me unconfused, I can now confidently lock the current open polls and they will remain open for voting but not eligible for replies which is what I wish? |

Try it and see. If you have any active polls that were closed by Mark's change earlier this week you may find it necessary to reopen them. This can be done by selecting Edit Poll from the More menu, followed by clicking on the Reopen Poll button. Regards, Bruce? Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |
