Default message for invitations?
I have defined a custom message to be included in invitations for people to join my group.
When I go to the Send Invites page, it always comes up with no custom message. I seem to recall that when I first started using groups.io, it would remember the last message I used. So each time I went to the Send Invites page, it would automatically show the customised message. Is there some way to set my customised message to be the default for invitations? It seems silly to have to manually select it every time I invite someone. David |

These are created as Member Notices of type "Invite." To change a template you have to go to Admin>Settings>Member Notices and edit it. You select which template you want to use from the Notices drop-down menu on the Invite screen. Is there some way to set my customised message to be the default for invitations?Well, that is hardly friendly. Often I forget and the invitation goes out with no customised text and leaves people wondering what it is all about. :-( Response rate is definitely lower than when there is a message. |

I think it would be nice to add back the "active" checkbox for Member Notices of type Invite (and Direct Add). If one of them is thus marked, it would auto-populate without having to be selected, but could still be overridden by selecting something else. I'll make a #suggestion to this effect in and see if it gets any traction. Regards, Bruce Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |
Yes, very unfriendly. I have only just realized this change in invitation procedure: our former default invitation message now needs to be manually selected each time. We've been sending out invitations lacking our custom text for some months now without noticing it, I guess. Anyhow, there needs to be an option for a default invitation message, not just the "no message" default. I'll try to comment the suggestion in beta if that is worth anything... Drew |
