Safety of promoting google meet addresses in groups io?

I'm looking for advice and opinions on whether or not its safe to post Google Meet web addresses in a closed, private Group? By doing this, would I be risking the possibility of crashers at the meeting?

Melanie -- You should be fine as long as your group archives are really private (see Admin>Settings>Privacy>Visibility).

With every person you invite, you increase the likelihood that someone will forward the information to someone you didn't want to attend. But using a closed group to distribute it should pose no additional risk over sending that same info to each person individually.

In short, we do it all the time.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

From what I can tell, when you use the GIO calendar to set up a zoom meeting, the process creates a registration link that requires people to provide their names and email addresses. However, it doesn't appear that these registrations are then provided back to the creator of the meeting. You can see an example here:??

For clalrification, "Registration" for a Zoom meeting is a method of controlling who attends by asking for details of attendees before the meeting starts and allowing the host to check those off before allowing them in.? Registration is an optional Zoom setting and is not specific to using the Zoom integration via a Groups.io calendar.? The first time you use the Zoom integration on Groups.io you need to specify and give permission for Groups.io to access your Zoom account. Zoom is then listed in your Account profile under Account > Other services.

Having used the Zoom integration a few times I can tell you the current version:

- Only seems to work with Personal Meeting Ids
- Does not support repeating meetings
- Adds a #Zoom hashtag to the meeting subject but it is not then added to the list of hashtags for the group.

Hope that helps.
