I believe the time stamp is from the GIO server when it's received.? If it's a moderated message, the time stamp will be the time it's approved, but will have the received time in the source code view.

I notice the message that I just sent says 0820 am on the message. It should have been a time of around 1630 pm. So can someone explain what is the problem please

Have you set your time zone in your account? Top right corner of the group page.?
/account?page=prefs

Many thanks for the replies. I am getting closer to understanding the issues.

I think I need to look at the source code to find when a message was sent. How do I look at the source please.

Click on More below your message in the group page. ?View source is an option.

On my system main does not have this option. However if I do view page source I can see the html. Below is part of the html. Does this show the time and if so what is it please.

<font size="-1" class="text-muted"><script class="timedisp">$('.timedisp').last().replaceWith(DisplayShortTime( 1539501339060260368 , false,"UTC","MM/DD/YY","h:mma"));</script></font>

Sorry, I checked on Beta where I am not a moderator and I can't see Source Code there. So you won't for GMF. ?You should for your own group.

As a moderator here, in Activity, I can see the correct time based on my time zone (set in Account preferences.)
The system "translates" that to my time zone.
The Source does not change the time for my time zone. It shows Pacific (where Groups.io is situated).

Perhaps if you tell us what your problem is, someone else can chime in. Your initial question was:
When someone sends a message to a group is that the time shown on the message.

Go to Admin in your group. Go to activity. Choose member or all.?
Or go to the Member in Admin. ?Email delivery history.

The time will be in your own time zone if you have updated your zone in Account, Preferences.

If your member is in a different time zone from you, calculate the right time. Or use a website -?

If you are using source, calculate the time based on California time.

Keep in mind the earlier messages about moderation time.

Frances
