Not receiving copies of messages as owner

I have two emails of mine under slightly different names in my main group and and the same in my two subgroups.? One of them is as owner and one is just as a subscriber.? I just sent a posting under my owner email and I received a copy in my subscriber email inbox, but not in my owner email box.? I checked my account for the email of the one who is owner and it says “always receive copies of my posgtings” or something like that.? So why didn’t I receive a copy an hour later?

Have you checked your account online? Go to Admin, Members, click on the first button (Members) to get to Moderators ?and find your name. (Of course if you have few members, you needed filter it this way.) Click on your name, then on Email Delivery History. And Activity.

I am asking you to check the activity in the account where you say you are NOT receiving mail. Not the one that you are receiving mail.
You should see In Subscription (side panel) Email Delivery History.
In mine, I see:
Message
[GMF] Not receiving copies of messages as owner
Delivered
12:00am
Response
OK id=1ijcIZ-0004Dd-4u

I can see the same thing if I go to Admin, Members and my account.?
In Activity button, I can see that I approved your message.
You can also look in owner messages button. (Shouldn't be there since the message was sent to all members.)

If you see something that is odd, you can send a screenshot and the folks here will try to figure it out for you.

It occurs to me that you should also check your subscription for the email address where you aren't receiving email.
You said that you clicked "always receive copies of my postings", but I bet that doesn't take effect if you are on no mail for that account.
Not sure.
Please check your activity in Subscription. Verify your subscription choices.

This says that your email service received the message (Response "Ok"). So whatever caused you to believe that you didn't receive that message happened internally to your email service. It might have been diverted to your Spam folder, or otherwise misdirected, but there's not anything Groups.io can do about that.

If there were no bounces and no Unsuccessful attempts then at least your service isn't rejecting messages.

IF I click on the down arrow to the right of? my message, I get the following unintelligible options:

Those items in the More menu are things you as moderator can do to control further replies to that topic or otherwise modify the topic.

I noticedthe word subscription “hidden” in plain view (but out of my range of sight) after I wrote my email saying I couldn’t find it anywhere.? But that didn’t seem to help. I dug into that and couldn’t find any evidence of my email being blocked or bounced or sent or anything other than received.

?

I also found something buried in the groupmanagersforum that said that Outlook blocks a senders email because it looks like a forgery of a sent email.???? I have no idea if that is true or not, but the fact that it was written on this forum has caused me to conclude that I just need to send my postings from my richard@... address and receive a copy from my RMcMurtry@... subscription/account.??? This is not a painful workaround, but there should be a more direct way of dealing with this problem of outlook.

?

That same discussion spoke about similar problems with gmail and work arounds to deal with it.

?

But I didn’t see any discussion of workarounds for the blockage by outlook, other than the one I came up with.

The problem with Outlook (and AOL, Yahoo, etc.) should be taken care of by the site.? See /static/help#why-are-emails-from-some-people-changed-to-be-via-groups-io

How about creating an email alias in Groups.io?
That allows you to send from a different email address that is attached to your account. I used to use it for sending from my work email (unsubscribed). You don't get email into your alias email address account. Just into the subscribed address.

"Note that an email alias is a POST-ONLY address. You will not receive mail at that email alias, nor can you set up an alias using an email address that is already in use as an established groups.io account."

Duane,

That is probably true that the site should deal with the problem, but I’m still not getting copies of emails that I send from my primary email address.

?

And no one seems to be able to help me find a setting to change to solve the problem.???

?

So I think I will either use the work around of sending from my second email address or using an alias as suggested by Frances.? The latter requires me to delete my second email account from my group; the first is easily implementable.

Do you have that subscription (email address) set to receive all messages from the group?? I still suspect something simple or others would be reporting the same type of thing.? Some services do delay messages now and then, but that usually shows up as a soft bounce (4xx) in your bounce history.

The message delivery for that account would be above the part you captured, in the Email Delivery area.

According to all of your settings, the messages will be sent to you, so they're either bouncing or being redirected, possibly to a spam/junk folder.? I'd check my Subscription on that group for the status of Email Delivery History, all 3 sections.? There may be a clue in there as to where the problem is happening.

I have an idea how to solve this once and for all.? Why don't you join his group, have him make you owner, and go through all the settings and admin and other places to see what's going on?? GIO can be complicated.? You can figure it out.

Terri

I have had the same problem, not receiving all messages sent, but only from one "member", AFIK.
I am the Owner.
I had my messages and e-mail (a Yahoo provider) settings as Mr. McMurtry showed, except that I had set the short list to messages sent by subscribers. The one member in question has been part of the Group for many years. I now have my Setting set to receive ALL messages but only time will tell if I now get.his messages when he posts something.

But it brings up the question of what is a subscriber versus not a subscriber. If only subscribers can post he must be
a subscriber. Curious also is that my missing his e-mails only started 6-8 months ago, and I do not recall changing my settings.
I've always been confused about subscribers versus members.
The Wiki seems to use the terms interchangeably

There may be several questions here.
Thanks,
Richard
