re pending member
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI am not a newly transferred group, we have been here for 2 years, but this is the first time I have seen this happen. I had a pending member, he responded to the questionnaire which goes out on application. I emailed him privately for clarification of some points and a few minutes later, I got the message from groups.io that he had left the group. Why did I get that message when he hadn¡¯t even been approved? Puzzling !! Win |

He must have balked at something you asked him...many folks are loath to give out information. As for the notification, members in pending status are nonetheless members, and this notification is sent so you know that he left of his own accord. The alternative -- silently disappearing without leaving you with any understanding of what happened -- strikes me as undesirable. Regards, Bruce |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks for the info. I was explaining why my group wasn¡¯t suitable for his needs. However I thought that they were not members until approved. Win ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bruce Bowman ? On Fri, Dec 13, 2019 at 09:25 AM, WBennett wrote:

Win,
However I thought that they were not members until approved. They aren't. The notice is confusing, and so is the process, a bit. There isn't a specific command to rescind my +subscribe request, so one uses the +unsubscribe feature to do that. It works out that way, as in the end you're not subscribed to the group; whether a mod approved you before you rescinded your request or not. That is, whether it rescinds your request or actually unsubscribes you is only a matter of timing (a race between you and the mod who might have approved you).
