Activtiy History

Sandi D.

I have a member who cannot reply to our group emails that she receives under the address she joined under. I suggested she add an alias (the email address that she sends from). On Dec 5, she emailed me that she did that. ?

I have checked her member activity and our group activity. The only activity I see was that "non member" ... attempted to send message...via email.?

I do not see any activity history of her adding an alias.?

My Question: If she did add an alias like she "thinks" she did, should that I be seeing that reflected in her activity area, the group activity area, both areas or neither area?

Sandi -- I don't fully understand this, but until I hear otherwise will assume that it addressed the problem.

If you click the Activity History button at the top of her subscriber record, an entry along the following lines should be found there:

Bruce Bowman <bruce_bowman @ mydomain.net>?added alias? bowman @ otherdomain.com? via web

You should also be able to see it in her user record under "Aliases" (i.e.: immediately below her Joined date).

Sandi,

I would suggest you ask her if possible? to go to the "Advanced settings for email aliases" option and screenshot what she has, then email it to you to check? All aliases set are listed under that option.

It's just possible that the email address she's trying to use is already registered with groups.io for some reason; if this is the case, a message is shown on the page,?but it's at the bottom and the page is scrolled back to the top, so it's easy to miss.

Thanks Bruce. This is the answer I needed.

I was not seeing any activity that she had actually made the change. She told me she did but the activity didn't reflect it from my view of the activity areas. So now I know that if I can't see it recoded in the activity area then it didn't happen.

I had her follow the steps again. Then she did it a third time. Finally she succeeded in making the change. I then looked in both activity areas I saw confirmation that she had made the change.?

So another piece of knowledge under my belt. Thanks

Thanks Derek. While I am quite comfortable with screen shots and attaching them, I avoided asking her to do that until I knew for sure whether or not, I as Mod, could find that out in the Activity area.

She didn't provide screen shots to me when her problem was first discovered. I wanted to know if there was a way for me to get that information without having to relying on her to provide it.

Turns out that I can identify when a member changes their email address without waiting on screen shots by going to either?Activity area. Both of them have that type of information.?
