Doesn't seem to be a removal function, and creating a first subgroup
appears to have altered the root address, apparently changing the
submission path. Advice?

You can delete the subgroup(s). There's a red Delete button at the bottom of the subgroup's Settings page.

However, the change to your group's web and email addresses is permanent; deleting all subgroups won't restore their original format. Your only option there would be to contact [email protected] and ask if the addresses can be reverted to the original form.

Go to the subgroups settings then click on the remove or delete. I can't remember ?the wording now.
