Invite accepted!

Good news. I notice that the Yahoogroups tracker dashboard had stopped backing up and now it is flying! This is the archive team that is harnessing the power of other people's computers to save all the valuable stuff on YG before it is deleted. So perhaps something happened at YG?

Sally, so have all your messages arrived in Groups.io??

Yes, it's all there in groups.io. ?Like I said it's a small group, only about 60 members, 13 of which were rejected because of bounces. ?All 256 messages, about 10 files and all of 2 photos were transferred.

Meanwhile, those of us who were blocked before the deadline still can't "Setup a new transfer". Durn!

So, what happens to those of us who started the process to transfer, paid the upgrade, and then the transfer was blocked by issues at YG?? Over the course of several days, I was transferring 3 groups.? The first two went through just fine and the last one was blocked.? Is the 12-1 deadline a hard deadline or will they attempt to transfer until the 12-14 date?? My first two were transferred quite quickly and I expect this one to be just as easy, but I have no idea how long the queue is at this point.? Getting concerned!

Eric -- You can now...but you have 3 days to complete it.?

Shelly -- As of this morning, it's been turned on again. You have three days to complete everything through Step 5 (give the go-ahead). See?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/64560840

Is the 12-1 deadline a hard deadline or will they attempt to transfer until the 12-14 date??
The new deadline of 12/5 is a hard deadline for giving the go-ahead. I'm sure Mark will do everything in his power to complete the transfers of those who meet that deadline.

I edit a club newsletter, and have?never?extended a deadline. I don't want anyone contacting me offline, asking what my "real" deadline is, when I already gave it to them. Folks here are fortunate that Mark seems to feel differently about this.

My first two were transferred quite quickly and I expect this one to be just as easy, but I have no idea how long the queue is at this point.? Getting concerned!
Do not procrastinate...get the agent invited and upgraded and give the go-ahead ASAP. You'll still be at the mercy of Yahoo server crashes or whatever but there's nothing any of us (including Mark) can do about that.

Yup. I am already at step 4 and monitoring the emails coming in like a hawk!

Frances-

This is really a minor issue but with the date issue and suspense . . .

I am currently logged in to both Yahoo page and also the groups.io page with the "Start Group Transfer Process" green button.

Dare I close the Groups.io page and go on with my chores? I would really hate to close it at step 4 and screw up the process.

I'm more than a bit paranoid about the transfer given the 2 weeks we spent getting the Yahoo group to accept me as a member and then owner.

Eric, I am confused. You posted in a thread that says Invite accepted.
I thought you meant that you were well on your way. But you asked on Beta?
About how long will it take from when I sent the invite from Yahoo until the invitation is accepted and we can make Groups.io a moderator.?
When did you invite transfer to your Yahoo Group?
If it still says If the status is the message that starts "Make sure you have sent an invite to your group", do it.
Again, if it is over 6 hours. Watch for the acceptance email. Then upgrade the transfer agent to moderator of your Yahoo Group.

Sorry for the confusion. I am at the stage where I await Groups.io to accept my invitation to join Yahoo group. I currently have 4 windows open on the screen . . . email, Yahoo, Groups.io showing the instructions, and Groups.io showing the matrix of selections to be transferred. I am afraid to close them for fear that I'll interrupt the process. As i said, I'm? a bit paranoid right now.

AFAIK the process doesn't depend on you keeping a webpage loaded. It's running on the server, not in your browser.

Eric,
It's OK to log out and log back in again after you have invited transfer to your yahoo group, and are waiting for that invitation to be accepted. ?When you log back in, go to the transfer instructions page, click on the existing transfer and check the notice at the top of the page. ?When it says your invite has been accepted, then you can make transfer a moderator and click the go ahead button. ?I logged out and in many times and even rebooted my computer a couple times during the 3 days I was waiting for my invitation to be accepted.

That is good news for us here at GroupsIO.? I had alerted the folks here about their effort just a few days ago.? Seems the Archive Team either paused their work or Yahoo closed their ability to taxi the dickens out of their servers.

Yes, I like the idea AT is being proactive to retain/save the important data, but there needs to be a balance for us migrating away from YG too.?

Should the AT find some of the LARGE groups on their warrior approach, they would really bring the YG servers to their needs.? My group alone has over 90K in messages hitting 195Mb alone.? And we are not even the largest AG tractor YG group.? John Deere YG is!?
