Question: Why am I only receiving this error when posting to groups.io vie Outlook and not other sites? ?Ken ? Subject: Re: [GMF] Office 365 Issues No, it's still happening now and then.? Until Microsoft fixes the reverse DNS problem on their servers, it will continue. |
Ken,
Question: Why am I only receiving this error when posting to groups.ioInteresting question. In a similar case Lena tracked it down to being one of the service's three outbound servers lacking DNS entries. The one in three would seem to explain a certain amount of randomness in which messages get through and which don't. /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/61705815#24556 I suspect something similar is happening for other email addresses supported by Office 365, though the details may vary. If you want, you can CC my email address on some future messages sent to Groups.io groups, then let me know which, if any, bounced. I don't know that both copies of a CC'd message would go out from the same server, but could verify it if you also forward the bounce message to me. That would let me see what Gmail's analysis of the sending authentication has to say. This essentially duplicates Lena's efforts, right? Larry |
Larry,
Just look at the first Received Header, and compare its source toSort-of. Gmail inserts other fields in the message header that detail its results for the various authentication methods used with the incoming message. Things like whether SPF was valid, DKIM valid, DMARC disposition. It may also indicate if a sender failed a reverse lookup, or maybe Gmail would have rejected the message too, I don't really know (yet). But either way, that's information too.
