Can I set questions for people requesting to join the group?
Hi, I have tried to search the answer to this question first without success. This will be my first IO group. I've owned/moderated/administrated on a few other platforms and they all have the option to set questions for people requesting to join (to check they fit the criteria of the group). I can't seem to find any option to do this on Groups IO. Is there an option to do this? Best wishes, Jill? |

开云体育Hi, I followed the info. below that you wrote to another. I wrote a welcome notice asking questions, and checked Active, however when I received an inquiry from someone to join, how am I able to send that notice? On Nov 17, 2019, at 7:22 AM, Duane <txpigeon@...> wrote:

You don't have to do anything. If you have an active Pending Subscription notice in a Restricted group, and someone sends an email or clicks on a link to join, the message is sent out automatically. Then when you receive the reply from the potential member, you decide on whether or not you want the person as a member. We added a few screenshots to the wiki page on pending subscription notice.

开云体育I am curious why the pending subscription response does not include the link to the approval page for that member.? I set up the pending subscription notice a couple days ago and today I had one response but had trouble getting to the approval page on my smartphone.? After I finally got to the page and approved the member I noticed that the pending member was in the list (with others that did not answer the pending subscription notice) making it necessary to go back to the original reply and see what the email address was of the person that did respond.Thank you. Jim,
I am curious why the pending subscription response does not includeBecause it is simply a reply from the applicant's email interface direct to the group's +owner address. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Jim wrote:,That is true, but it would be nice (and thus it's an RFE) if one could add such a link (or similarly helpful information) in the pending notice, so that when users press "reply" and the notice is included in the reply, it's there for the moderator to click. Of course, not all members who reply include the original message in their reply.I am curious why the pending subscription response does not includeBecause it is simply a reply from the applicant's email interface direct to the group's +owner address. I agree it seems the "Pending Subscription" Member Notice feature was not fully thought through.

Some believe it was intended only to PROVIDE Additional Information TO applicants for Subscription, and given that's all it REALLY does they may be right... Others use it to REQUEST Additional Information FROM applicants - I change its Subject to: "Additional Information Required". Currently there is no way to automatically put applicants 'on hold' until they answer such a request. Consequently, it is the first step in the workaround to do so. Your suggestion that the "View Pending Member" link be attached to a "Pending Subscription" Member Notice reply is a good one. Perhaps next year after the Great YG Migration (and probably the Groups.io app is rolled out), it can be one of several excellent feature requests to be brought up again and instituted. I believe a better way to vet would-be subscribers should be second only to an Absentee Owner Succession feature and/or a restructuring Set Moderator Privileges (to prevent a Founder/Original Owner being deposed). Hang in there, Groups.io DOES work on improving itself... On Nov 19, 2019, at 12:05 AM, Jim Pruitt <jpruitt67@...> wrote: |
