Android phone user unable to reply to messages

I have a very large group and this is the first time this problem has happened.

The user is complaining that when he responds on his android phone to a group message he gets an error that says:

When I hit reply to group and type a message and send the send button on my e mail, I get a message that says. Eek we cannot send this e mail. Get the same message when I hit reply to sender.? I am using aol for e mail.

when he goes to the library and uses a desktop computer he has no problems. Where can I start looking?

That "eek" threw me, but after a bit of googling, I believe it means that this error message starts with the grimacing-face emoji (also known as "eek"). Does AOL Mail use emoji in its error messages?

Also, on all the AOL Mail web pages that I have visited, they spell it "email", not "e mail" or "e-mail", so I wonder if this error message truly comes from AOL Mail.

Thanks for the reply Samuel

I asked the user for a screen shot. ?Which shows his email app using a truncated return email address. ? Not sure why it¡¯s doing that. ? I told him to fix the address before sending.?

Yes, he's trying to send the message to:

[email protected]?subject=Re:Winter projects

instead of to:

[email protected]

Try hovering over or copying the "Reply To Group" link at the bottom of Groups.io mails, and you'll see where it comes from.

He clicked the "Reply To Group" link at the bottom of the e-mail, which is a mailto link but which attempts to include a pre-filled subject line in the link. This pre-filling of subject lines isn't standard, but many e-mail systems or programs do support it in some or other way.

It would mean that his e-mail system (AOL Mail) does not support pre-filled subject lines via the mailto link.

Does AOL Mail not have its own dedicated "Reply" button?

It seems to be a client configuration problem. I suggest asking the subscriber if he has his mail client configured to block sending of mail to either subdomain addresses or foreign top-level domains. Unfortunately, he probably won't know. Maybe if he can simply tell us what client he is using someone else here is also using it and can provide further advice.
