How does groups.io avoid being flagged as a spammer

We migrated successfully.

We did not have groups.io notify our Yahoo members of the new group.

We used MailChimp to notify our users.

A lot of that e-mail bounced as undeliverable. I don't recall any data in our Yahoo group flagging members' email addresses as undeliverable.

MailChimp put us on "warning" that because of all the bad email addresses, it appears that we were violating their TOS by sending email to recipients who did not opt-in.

Groups.io initial "Here's a new group" email to migrated subscribers must have the same problem with dead e-mail addresses.

How do they handle this??

GIO has their own email server and bounce handling, so not a problem like trying to use an outside service.? The Yahoo bouncing status hasn't worked right in several years, so it's not unusual to "lose" a bunch of members right after a transfer.

This is very common. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups#Y21group-after-the-transfer

There is an opt-out link in the transfer completion notification (the one that you chose not to send).

My experience with this has been similar to what has been said elsewhere in this thread: many e-mail addresses that Yahoogroups did not flag as undeliverable turned out to be undeliverable. In my case, I had a small enough list of members that I was able to use my own ISP to send them all an e-mail beforehand, and many of the onces that Yahoogroups did not flag as undeliverable, bounced (many some bounced hard).
