Identifying Missing Messages after YahooGroups Transfer?

My YahooGroups -> Groups.io transfer completed today (woooo!)? See below for the progress I experienced.

The YahooGroups appeared to have 13207 messages in it at the time of export.? But the Groups.io import only has 13074 messages in it, leaving behind a mysterious 133 messages.

Is there any way to identify what messages got missed, and why?

Thanks.

I think my export from Yahoo happened overnight (Sat26 into Sunday27).

Ron -- How did you determine the "expected number?"

You cannot count on the message number of the highest message to be the same as the total messages present. I suspect these 133 messages were deleted from your Yahoo group before the export ever occurred.?

Bruce

In YahooGroups (web interface), the URL of each message ends with the number of that message, and that number is incremental starting with "1" back at the beginning of the group and its first post.
In Groups.io, the upper right corner of the web interface says "1 - 20 of 13074"
That is where I am getting my numbers from.

Over the 20 years my group has been in existence, it's possible some messages have been deleted.? But 133 seems high.? I am the only one allowed to post, and I am the only owner/moderator.? If any had been deleted, I'd guess less than a dozen, not over 100!

Is there a way to export Groups.io messages in mbox format so I could 'diff' it against the YahooGroups mbox export and identify the oddities that way?

Yes. In Admin>Settings, click the "Export Group Data" button at the top of the page.

Ron,

You can also compare the Message History grid on your groups.io ¡°Home¡± page for your group with the equivalent on the Yahoo site. It¡¯s a bit tedious, but you should be able to determine which months have discrepencies. I did this for my group (11 years, 1300 messages) and found the discrepencies. All were spam that was removed, duplicates, or mismatches in Date sent versus Date received which caused them to appear in a different month.

Although, it¡¯s odd since you¡¯re the only poster, but you should be able to figure it out.

Great idea comparing the Message History grid.? Many of the discrepancies are matched up in end-of-month mismatches, but several don't.? But bottom line, nothing adds up to 133 missing messages.? It's actually less than 10.

Maybe it has something to do with threads/topics?

In fact, if I switch from Topic view to Message view, the Groups.io count jumps to 13204, which is close enough to the YahooGroups count of 13207 for me.? Thanks for the idea!
