Move messages AFTER group transfer?

You could forward them, but they lose their ownership and threading.
You could download them and put them in Files in your group homepage on Groups.io. You say "snapshot". It is more than that! 5. What gets transferred using the Transfer Agent?
?
Groups.io can transfer message archives, properly owned and properly threaded, (without attachments, however), photos, files, links and databases. Calendar entries are not copied at this time. Subscribers (members) are also transferred, maintaining their subscription options and ownership of each message and other group content.
?
Those with "no mail" status in YG migrating to a Groups.io group with "no mail" disabled will have Special Notice status instead.
Have you checked your transfer status?Check the wiki for instructions ?- and see also about posting after transfer: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-Yahoo-Groups 9. How do I stop people posting on Yahoo Groups after the transfer?
?
If you didn't uncheck the 'Send a message to your members when the transfer is complete' box they will be sent a welcome message (ditto if you have a group welcome message). That will be tracked for bouncing. Whether that actually triggers someone being removed depends on the type of bounce back received.
?
Assuming you have already sent the group a notice of intent to transfer, you only need follow up with those who didn't get the message. The easiest way is to put the entire group on moderation. Or in the YahooGroup management settings, you can set it so that nobody can post to the group.
?
After transfer you could post the group email address on YahooGroups saying that this group has moved.
?
You might suggest the members tidy up their address book. In Apple Mail, you can delete unwanted previous recipients (under Window).

Not directly.? You'd have to forward or copy each one as an email from you, so much of the 'envelope' would be lost.I would like to do this.? I've got an announcement-only group. I am the only one allowed to post, and therefore have all of the original messages in my Sent mail folder on my computer that I can just forward in to Groups.io. My question is, can I temporarily turn off the mailing out of messages from my Groups.io group, so subscribers don't see the same messages again?? And then once the missing messages are in, turn it back on, and proceed like normal? Thanks. |

That will do what you want. Kinda awkward, I admit; but seems better than temporarily changing everyone's message delivery setting and then trying to change them all back. It will also help you find all the affected messages later, if for some reason things don't go as expected. Bruce |
Ron -- Create a hashtag with the "no email" flag set, and add that hashtag to each such message. That will do what you want. Unfortunately, this doesn't work.? I did this, created a new tag, set the No Email flag, and then started to move the missing messages.? They are being E-Mailed to members, and when I look at the Hashtags section of the group, the new tag is active, but no topics are found. |

You *did* put the hashtag in the subject line, right? Bruce |
Works fine here. You *did* put the hashtag in the subject line, right?LOL, yep, I guess it does pay to read the instructions :) I was putting it in the body.? I just tried it in the Subject, and it seems to have worked as expected. Much thanks for walking me through this, and my apologies for missing that key step in the Help docs. Ron |
