Group Occupying 2.1GB of its 1GB
My free group is now occupying 2.1GB of its allocated 1GB. I sort of assumed that setting "Out of space" to "Delete old attachments" would invoke an automatic process that would keep my group within allocation? Or do I need to do it manually?
Following on from that, is there any bulk delete photos (or attachments) tool on the horizon? (I'm not looking forwards to editing a thousand messages to delete the attachments!) Or is there a better way? Thanks -- Ken Scanes IndustrialRailwaySociety |

So if you're over quota, its all the other stuff you have that's causing it, and this setting would not have helped you. At one time, Mark would stop a transfer for a group that was going to be over its allocation and send the group Owner an email asking what you wanted him to do. This gave you an opportunity to use the photo auto-rescaling options and other stuff within the group settings to help mitigate the problem. With the existing time crunch to get things moved it's not surprising that things are a little different now.? Or do I need to do it manually?Yes. Following on from that, is there any bulk delete photos (or attachments) tool on the horizon? It's been "on the horizon" for at least two years, so I wouldn't count on it. Obviously, you *didn't* do a transfer, or you would be on the Premium plan right now, and would have a 10 GB allocation, not 1 GB. Duh. I don't know what triggers the actual deletion of attachments to remain under quota, using that setting you mentioned. Consider sending a message with an attachment to see what happens, and please report back on your findings. Anyway, my advice is unchanged...delete stuff yourself as best you can, using the instructions in the wiki page that I linked to you.? Regards, Bruce |

Nothing happens. I'm not sure whether to regard it as a problem or not. The only problem it causes us at the moment is no-one can upload files or photos directly. ? -- Ken Scanes IndustrialRailwaySociety |
Ken,
? I just finished transferring 3634?photos (2.3 GB) of Narrow gauge railways from a YG list? I chose an image size maximum of 1024 x 1024 pixels,? The new storage used is 448 MB, less than half of what is available for a free list. I downloaded the images from the YG photo directory to my PC hard drive.? I uploaded them an album at a time into groups.io.? I uploaded about 15 albums a hour.? groups.io automatically resized them to my maximum image size of 1024 x 1024.? Image quality of the resized images looks identical on my LG and HP 32" monitors when compared to the original images. ? ?Groups.io has limited delete functions; you can either delete a single image or a single photo album.? I had an instance where I had manually double loaded an album.? It was easier to delete the album and upload again the photos for that album than to individually delete images.? Groups.io does not automatically delete images in the Photo directory, only photos that may have been attached to messages.? Yes you have to manually delete photo album by photo album.? It is not hard and you should be able to delete 50 albums of 60 images each in less than ten minutes. I would reconsider your maximum image size settings, if you had chosen 'unrestricted' or a size larger than 1024 x 1024 pixels; you likely have some space wasters. -- ken clark www.shastasprings.com |
