Today, using PB Offline I downloaded 50,000+ messages, but cannot find a way to save them to my hard drive. I still have the app open, I did not want to close it in case all the messages disappeared. |
Correct and if YG members are still posting there, you can log in with PGO and it will amend your existing download and and the newest messages to it.? Same with any other files you can download, they will get amended with the latest added to what you already have downloaded.? But that is what is on YOUR computer.? If Groups.io has already downloaded a mirror of your site site and YG members add more posts or what not afterwards, those additional are only on YG.? Any corrections are up to you to fix.? Come the 28th that will no longer be an issue since YG locks out any further information being added to your YG site.

Messages can be EXPORTED in 4 different file formats.? But you will have to pay the $25 license fee since it is a trial version you down load and install.? You can off load files, folders and links to your computer from the program but are limited to I recall 1,000 messages in the trial version.? Must pay the $25 which when you look at it is a really good deal, considering.
As long as the files were downloaded to your computer, the files are embedded in the program.? Turn computer on or off makes no difference.? Just go back to the program and the files are still there to be accessed by the program. I had to do the learning curve myself and down loaded 7 YG several times to make sure I did it right. No I am not related to PGO, just using it. |
The messages are on your machine and automatically saved in a database.? Look for this file:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\PG Offline 4\ygroups.db3 where <username> is the username you are logged into your Windows system with. I didn't understand this at first, and exported the messages to an SQL file.? Totally unnecessary.? You can quit PG Offline, and when you restart it, it will re-open the database.? Select the group name in the left pane, then hit the refresh button and you'll see all your messages. Edit: A simpler way to get to the data folder is select Open Data Folder in the File menu.? I then copied that db3 file off to Dropbox to share with another person who had PG Offline.? File/Open can be used to access the file. It's a great little product. Mark |
You can download all the member's email address's, options etc etc and save it in a data base that can be played with and such.? If you have a free account with groups.io this is the way to move members over real easy.? Just cut and past the information into your members invite panel and bulk send out.? The only thing that you can not do is move over the message data base.? The pictures and files you can yourself.? However the groups.io file and folder panel is rather primitive and not very fast when you have say 2,000 pics to move which I have to do on some accounts.

In addition, the photos, files, and attachments are saved to directories that reside in the same folder as the database.?? Within each of those folders there are folders for each group you download.?? You do have to download the photos and files separately.? The attachments get downloaded with the messages but I have found some glitches in this and I presume this is due to the Yahoo server.? A second try has usually corrected the situation, but I had to delete the group first.? Also for some reason, the links to the messages in the attachments are not working for me, even though the attachment is there in the exact directory the link is pointing to.
