Can not get transfer request to show up in the "In Process" list
I am one of the many trying to get a group moved from yahoogroups to groups.io I go into the easy group transfer, then yahoo group instructions, but there is nothing in the Existing Transfers even though I have requested it? Yahoogroup, leopardcat@... Groups.io that I setup to transfer to [email protected] I have seen the [email protected] in the yahoo group and that has been changed to moderator. I have seen the email saying [email protected] has been approved. ? ? I have read the Wiki page, and the one step that looks messed up is I have not seen the email directing me to make the [email protected] a member but I did see that member in yahoo so as I said above, we changed it to moderator, I have tried looking in spam, etc. but do not see it? ? Can you tell me what I am doing wrong or how to get the transfer started? ? Darci |
Only the person that initiated the transfer will see it in the list.? If it wasn't you, find out who did and ask them to check the status.? If it was you, make sure you're signed int o Groups.io with the same email address you used to start the process.? Carefully double check the steps at /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673

I read those instructions again and I am stuck at step step 10 and 11.
I am the member that requested a transfer. There the possibility that someone else requested a transfer as well but very unlikely and no way they requested it to the groups name I listed because I am the only member of that group. I do not have the "We've received the invite to your group and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite." but when I go back to the yahoo group like the instructions say to do and repeat the invite I get this: On a related note, the instructions say: Send a membership invitation to "[email protected].", with a period within the quotes but I assume I do not use the last period and it should say this: "[email protected]". Something may have been done out of order or a glitch occurred. I've fixed the problem with the misplaced period in that post.? Thanks for catching it. Do I just sent the invite (step 10) or do I need to go back to step 7 (Set Up New Transfer) and start there?
On a related note, does the "Existing Transfers" update at step 7 or only between steps 10 and 11 (some unknown time between the yahoo request to join and groups.io getting (and processing) that request). That could be a problem, especially with how buggy yahoo groups has been, how can we know if the request went out or if groups.io got it? I saw the [email protected] show up: To ask this another way, how long (or what steps need to happen) between step 7 and the "Existing Transfers" box to be updated to say ... we have received the invite...? It sometimes?happens is someone without proper authority attempts to do a transfer only to get stuck when they realize they can't promote the transfer agent to a Moderator. So the agent remains a member of the group and the whole thing ends up in limbo. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19948?for instructions on how to check status. As Duane said, if your transfer status still says something like "be sure to invite [email protected]"?or something to that effect, and you find that?[email protected]?is already subscribed, you will have to delete the existing subscription and send a new invitation. Hope this helps, Bruce |
Bruce,
Thanks for the response -?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/20484 I don't think so, if you look the member join time, [email protected] joined shortly after I after attempted to do the transfer, less than a day ago so I can not see how that could be months or years ago. Also as I was going though the steps, yahoo let me invite [email protected] Maybe yahoo groups messed up and updated that joined date and allowed me to send an additional invite even though it was already there but unlikely (yes I know yahoogroups has lots of issues so maybe.) I have read that message 19948 several times. I have clicked on the box to insure there are none there, that has never shown "We've received the invite..." Again, my question is when does groups.io update the box with the "We've received the invite....", after I start it in groups.io or after it is started and a request to join is sent to groups.io (from the yahoo group), or even sometime later, like after groups.io accepts that invite and sends the email? My guess is the latter and it looks like there was a glitch because everything worked up to the point of transfer@groups being a member of our yahoo group. Having this information between steps 3 and 4 of the Easy yahoo group transfer would help people know what has worked or not worked. Maybe say something like, "The status will get updated to "We've received the invite..." after you have sent the invite from your yahoo group, we have received that invite and responded to it and sent you an email. Sorry but there is know what of knowing if any of these items have happened till you see the [email protected] accept the invite.." or the email, if groups glitched and did not send the email or some spam filter grabbed it have a status "email sent) or however it works. Sorry to babble, I can see I am. Thanks in advance for your support! On a related note, even though it looks like I hit a glitch, it VERY refreshing to actually get support, thanks again, so much better than yahoo! Darci Mod's note: Added a link to Bruce's post |

Hi Duane,
Not that it matters much except for the why.... If it does update the box when it accepts the invite, then it looks like there was a hiccup because transfer@groups was a member of my yahoo group but my box has never updated. I have deleted the transfer@... and re-set an invite. Maybe this time it will go though smoothly? I have not seen the email, but basically I guessing give it 30 minutes or so, and keep repeating step 10 (the invite) till I get the email or that box "Existing Transfers" is updated and I see the request. Do I have to get the email and the box updated before the next step? I am a little concerned because it looks like I am now stuck here, invite sent, waited ~30 minutes, second invite but still no response (email or Existing Transfers updating). Should I wait longer than 30 minutes after the invite from yahoo is sent? Thanks again for your support! Darci |

Once that happens, you make [email protected] a moderator and continue the process.? If you keep sending invites after one has been accepted, I believe it drops you to the bottom of the list.? People have been reporting that it can take almost 2 days for an invitation to actually be sent by Yahoo, so I'd (try to) be more patient. Hi Duane,
There is still a problem. I tested yahoo subscribe and I get that to different domains (I tested a gmail account and my work email) and both arrived in less than 2 minutes. So could the problem be at groups.io? Anyway you can check to see if there is a queue at groups for responses? it has been hours, how long do I wait before sending again? Can you see if I am in a queue? I have no problem in waiting if it will work but would rather not wait a day and then hear, you're too late to transfer stuff. Darci |

Sorry, looks like I am making assumptions on all of the emails in the subject and I'm sure you guys are answering millions of questions with out reading the entire thread on the subject.
I know about the change mark did on the box and that you have to click on the box to see if there is anything there. The problem is I can not get anything in that box, it is always empty, i.e the transfer is not started. I have a group and have paid the 1 year subscription. Group name is Leopardcatamaranowners. I have done the detailed instructions though number 10, I then go to yahoo group and send the invite to [email protected] but I never get any response from groups, email or that box updating. The instructions say to send the invite again, I did that 30 minutes after the first and still no update (from the end of instruction 11). I then asked above in this thread because that second one did not work and I was then told that maybe yahoo was delayed, and wait longer. After a few hours it still has not started (groups.io has not responded to the yahoo invite with either an email or the box showing it was received). I then tested Yahoogroups by inviting myself in 2 other domains / email accounts and I got the invite within 2 minutes. So I am asking is there any way to tell if there is a queue on the groups.io responding / acknowledging the invite from the yahoo group, do I send additional invites like step 11 says or what should I do to get groups.io to accept the invites from my yahoo group? There is something wrong here, groups.io is not responding to the invites from yahoo is that broken, or maybe groups.io does not know what to do with the invite? Is there anyway to see is the "setup a new transfer" worked, I'm thinking that did not work. Yes I know to enter the yahoo group without the domain, yes I used the pullwdown on the box to select the group I wanted to transfer it to, yes that groups has had the 1 year paid subscription. |

Hi Duane,
Can I get help because it is not working. I have an account [email protected], and is 1 year paid account and I followed the easy group instructions and the Detailed instructions /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673 and I can not get step 11 to show it worked. I verified (by sending requests to other emails) that the yahoo group is sending the request but I do not get groups.io to acknowledge the request. Can you fix my account / group so it will work? ok, Thanks Duane,
I didn't skip any step, did you really think a person that finds issues with one of this groups help page (miss placed period) is the sort of person to skip a step? Can you tell me the best location to report problems with your account, is it the bug reporting link support@..., or should I use the beta group? I think I know why everything went south and is in limbo land but I think I need something in my account reset. Darci |
