approval via email
I receive an ''approval required'' notice which suggestsI can approve a sub or message by replying to the notification email. However when I do this it posts the approval message to ALL group members. This is surely not correct (or have I something set wrongly) My members complain about me ''spamming '' them

Alan,
I have never seen this happen so here's an overview of moderating -? /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Approving---moderating-a-message If you have other moderators who don't wish to get certain messages, their notices can be changed. In Admin, Members, Membership, Notifications, you can set these: Notifications
Email when there are messages needing approval.
Email when there are members needing approval.
Email when a member joins/leaves this group.
Email when group storage limits are reached.
Email when someone creates or deletes a subgroup.
Email when someone reports a message.

I don't see that in my groups here, but I'm not using your ISP, either. You should contact BT internet after reading more at the links Duane provided so you can explain things to their tech support people. The more that complain, the faster it will get corrected. Alan, I receive an ''approval required'' notice which suggestsI can approve a sub In your case you'll need to reply using btinternet's webmail interface instead of your SMTP client application. That's because of the BT Internet bug that Duane and Donald have mentioned. Or, click through the link and approve via Groups.io's web site. However when I do this it posts the approval message to ALL group members. This is surely not correct You're right, it is not correct. It is a bug in BTinternet's handling of messages that originate with an SMTP client application. In your case whatever "gnat" is. BTinternet is stripping the part of the To: address in your reply that tells Groups.io that your message is an approval. You'll have the same problem with all other Email Commands as well. Thanks Shal (also Duane, Donald and others) this
seems to have only occured this year. I feel I used this successfully when I
first transfered several groups from Yahoo.
?
As a retired BT engineer I am aware of certain
''problems'' at BTinternet and have made noises via internal contacts
previously. I will punt this one up to my contacts, don't hold your breath but
it may add to the ''weight'' of complaints.
?
Thanks for a? good trouble free
service.

Alan,
As a retired BT engineer I am aware of certain ''problems'' atYou may pass them this link for some evidence. GMF's messages are public so they can read the messages with no membership or login. /g/GroupManagersForum/message/18774 don't hold your breath but it may add to the ''weight'' of complaints.Another push can't hurt. I hope they're in a mood to listen and act. Thanks for a good trouble free service. That thanks of course belongs to Mark at Groups.io, who doesn't read this group. You, or more to the point BTinternet, can contact him via [email protected] (or the beta group) if that would help push this issue.
