Sending a message from within the group to a non-member

I¡¯ve looked in various sections but can¡¯t find the answer, so:

I received a message from a potential member asking for some information prior to joining and, as I didn¡¯t know the answer posted a message with her request to our ¡®forum¡¯, including her private email address.?
Naturally some of our members wanted to help and attempted to reply. ?Although I gave her email addy, it appeared as ?xyz@... and didn¡¯t send. ?My question therefore is: ?how do we reply to a non-member from within the groups site?

Regards

Peter

A workaround. This works on my iPhone. Open the post and copy it. ?Click on share on the iPhone. ?Choose email or message and paste the post. ?It isn¡¯t enough to allow the default post which will just have the post URL. They can¡¯t open that. I just tested it and it works for me.?

If you have private archives, you may not want to hide email addresses.? In the group settings, scroll down a bit to the Privacy section and change the Hide Email Addresses In Archives to "Do not mask email addresses in the archives."? (Don't forget to Save Changes)? Even if you have public archives, the email addresses are supposed to be hidden from anyone not logged into the group.

I really think you need to double-check that. Any?emails?that group members received should have contained the email address. It's only obfuscated in the online message archive. And per Duane, you can change your settings to allow them to be visible there, too...but only to subscribers who are logged in.

From the web site, it is not possible to send a reply to a non-member...nor can you force an unsubscribed address into a email's reply-to field. The best you can do is provide her address. Group members who want her to be copied will have to use their own email client and populate that address manually.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

P.S. Better yet, just tell her to join. It's not a lifetime commitment.

Peter,

IMHO, you don't. You should have requested the information and then personally forwarded the answer back to the potential member.

You should not have given out their email address.
