Banning by IP Address

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello,
I just started a new group and am feeling that this one will attract some people because of its theme.
While I'm not needing it for now, one never knows, so I thought I'd ask since I haven't found anything about it.
If a member turns out to be a disturber and if I need to go by that route, how can I accomplish that? That is, how can I ban an IP address from my group?

Your help is much appreciated.

Cheers,

You can ban an email address, and Premium/Enterprise groups can ban entire domains. Banning an IP address is not an available feature.

Hello, you have to write to Mark about this. The address to do so is below. For you, most people only want to band via member.

"Groups. io" <[email protected]>

[mod note: support is for bugs. Ban by IP would be a feature suggestion, more appropriate to beta - the suggestion box:

I was getting ready to post about the inaccuracy of attributing IPs to users and then I noticed that Shal said it perfectly: /g/GroupManagersForum/message/16334 .

There aren't even robust ways of matching geography (a much wider target) to IP.

Best,

Glenn

Bruce,
Thanks for the answer :)
Actually, I hope I don't need to ban anyone at all, nor by email nor by whatever it may be, but as I said, one never knows.
Anyway, I feel being a group owner is going to be an interesting adventure for me.

Just FWIW . . .

Another option is for a member who is a 'disturber' to have his posting privileges set to 'Moderated' status or to 'No Post' status as a means to control any undesirable disturbance posts s/he might make. It also sends a reasonably clear message to that member.
