ADV in Subject Line

Spyder,
I've searched and searched for what "ADV" means in the subject line inIt doesn't have any functional meaning as far as Groups.io is concerned. Maybe the member is trying to signal that their message contains an advertisement? Or maybe some member's email service is adding that because their algorithms think the group message is an advertisement (similar to the SPAM tag I've seen some email interfaces use), and that gets carried back to the group in the member's reply. I've had to tell several members on a couple of groups how to change their classifier software/filtering assignment software to NOT use the subject line, as it breaks topic threading in Groups.io (and lots of other places, too).? Virtually all of them are able to put information into the message header, not visible to the world at large and that does not change the Subject, to indicate classification. I don't see this happen very often these days, but every once in a while . . .? ? ? -- Brian?-?Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763?? ? ? ?Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?~ George Santayana |
