hashtags and notices sent to group owners

Good morning! I have two questions.

Yesterday, a member of one of my groups sent a message to the group owner email address. The group has multiple owners, but at least one of the owners never received the message (me!). I have looked at the settings, and I think everything is set correctly, and have received owner notices in the past, so I am very confused. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

My second question is regarding hashtags. I have a member notice set to go out every month - and this morning it went out, at least I received the message to my personal email address, but in the activity list it says: "Thread "Message Delivery Options for a Groups.Io Group" was deleted because of an expired hashtag." I do not use hashtags because our group has no need for them, and I have no idea what all this means, because I do not remember setting one up to begin with. Can anyone advise me?

Thanks!

Patti

First, go to the group in question, then select Subscription from the left menu.? Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Owner Email section to make sure you've selected to receive them.? If that's selected, you can check your Account, upper left, and choose Recent Bounces on the left menu to see if it might have been bounced by your email service.? If it's neither of those, I have no idea.

Some hashtags are created automatically by the system.? Select #Hashtags from the left menu to see which ones your group has.? It sounds like you're using the Guidelines function to send this notice.? I believe that particular hashtag is set for a Topic Duration of One Month by default.? What that will do is delete the topic after a month, when the new one is sent, so that there aren't multiple copies of it in the message archive, which may confuse members.? If you don't want it deleted, you can either change the Topic Duration to Forever or select the Lock Topic checkbox below.? Other hashtags have the same options, so it could be another one doing the deletion.

? >> Yes, you are correct - I am using the guidelines function, and indeed, it was one month. Now I get it - what it all means, but this has created two other questions. first, I found a hashtag I definitely never created, and deleted it, but how do hashtags get created? Our group is primarily moderator post only. And, I deleted the hashtag for the guideline, and after reading your reply think maybe I would rather keep it - is there a way to put it back in?

Thanks so much!

On the hashtag page, you can click on any box containing a hashtag to pull up any threads using that hashtag.? As I mentioned, there are several that are automatically created by the system.? This happens when a function is used that creates one.? Some examples are #cal-invite, #guidelines, and #chat.? Unless you use one of the underlying functions, the hashtags are never created.? On my groups, I created some of them before using the function so I could set the options I wanted.

On the hashtag page, you can also use the Create Hashtag button to create a new one.? For the #guidelines tag that you deleted, you can go ahead and create a new one with the settings you want.? I think if you wait until next month when your notice goes out, it will be automatically recreated, but with the One Month duration option.
