If, during my (not quite) lifelong career as a programmer/developer I read every User's (Loser's?)Guide, Programming Manual, Compiler guide, etc?
before?I ventured to develop my first program on a strange computer system, operating system, compiler or simulator I would have never had a chance to do much productive work.
So I've always treated Tomes on knowledge as Reference Material, not Requiredm Reading Material and let my errors by the guide to my reading.
While trying to provide guidance to a member of our advocacy group whose iris is stuck in an open position I searched our 20 year message archive.? But I was defeated by the fact that one of our Mentors, (experienced, and? smart and great communicator) had the condition noted on every post and unfortunately, she didn't use the Signature feature to execute her signature.? So I have her hundreds of posts showing up on every search.
Not only that but one of the two words in the Latin name of the condition gets differently misspelled by almost every one of those suffering from it so the variations were killing me and there are actually at least two different conditions that utilize the first Latin word.
firstword AND lastword wouldn't work because of the second condition with the same first word.
firstword AND NOT secondconditionsecondword wouldn't work because of the Mentor's signature in the text body couldn't be inhibited.
firstword AND lastword AND NOT thatmentor also was no good because of the frequent misspelling of secondwords second syllable BUT........wait for it
firstword AND last* AND NOT thatmentor was a winner because it allowed all forms of the second word's most common misspelling while eliminating the mentor
And voila! I had my perfect solution
