Owner's message needing moderation #specialnotice #owner

Hi

I sent a message special notice - I ticked the box AND added the hashtag #specialnotice.

Our group: ?We have restricted membership. New users moderated and approved after 1 post.
I have not changed my email address. I am the owner. My status is correct.

This first message I had to moderate. I thought, okay, sober second thought! Then I replied to my own message, but I took off the hashtag #specialnotice. Again I have to moderate my message.

So, it leads me to think that either my replies or all replies to "special notice" aka "special message" posts need moderating. Or something is up with Groups.io. Or?

Anyone else seeing this?

And can I reply to a Special Notice message I sent be usual subscription preferences, rather than special notice? If yes, how? Does removing the hashtag from the new message do it?

Frances,

This first message I had to moderate.
I don't think checking the "Send this message as a special notice" box would cause the message to require moderation. That would be up to your Posting Privileges and the group's Moderated setting.

However the hashtag could have that effect if its "Moderated" box is checked.

You need to go to the group's Hashtag page and Edit the #specialnotice hashtag to see what options it has. See also the Help page under Hashtags.

Then I replied to my own message, but I took off the hashtag
#specialnotice. Again I have to moderate my message.
How did you take off the hashtag? If you were replying by email and removed it from the subject I don't think that would have any effect: I think the topic subject-match rule ignores hashtags.

And can I reply to a Special Notice message I sent be usual
subscription preferences, rather than special notice? If yes, how?
If the original message did not have a hashtag with the "Special notices" box checked then your replies would not be special notice. Member replies (if allowed) would also not be special notice.

Thank you, Shal. I edited the preferences for the hashtag. It was marked as moderate. And I also found that I was blocking replies by regular members - not what I wanted in this case.?

I so rarely sent special notices, that I am unsure of the rules. It would be great to have a wiki section on this. After the New Year.?

Hiappy holidays.?

I am an owner of a group but my messages require approval.
I have settings set to "moderate all".
We never use #hashtags.
Is there a setting to allow owner messages to? not require approval?

It is possible to allow messages posted to the group by select individuals to be unmoderated, despite the group settings.

Open the members list (Admin>Members), find and click open the desired subscriber record. Scroll all the way down to "Posting Privileges" and click the "Override: Not Moderated" radio button. Then click Save at the bottom.

Having done this, that subscriber will now display a blue "P" (Can Post) badge in the members list. Repeat for anyone else you want to give this privilege to.

Hope this helps,
Bruce
