If it's an embedded photo, there's no setting to automatically remove it.? You can manually edit a pending email to delete it though.

Plain Text Only.

Plain Text Only.
Sorry, but that doesn't work either. See

Just tested this in Shalstest (), and?the embedded image was converted to an attachment and forwarded as such in email. The offending image also appeared in the online message archive and in the Emailed Photos folder, even though the group was set to Plain Text Only at the time.?

I have long wanted a group option that will strip and discard embedded images. If others agree, follow the first link above and give it a bump.

Bruce?

seems that would be a problem with posting via email from a iPhone it iPad the way it¡¯s nearly impossible (or not possible at all?) to attach rather than embed a file??

Ken -- I'm talking about a group setting option. If you don't want it, don't use it.

Bruce,

Just tested this in Shalstest ... and the embedded image was converted
to an attachment and forwarded as such in email.
Interesting. I wouldn't have expected this behavior, the citation to beta notwithstanding.

I can see how it could be a desirable feature in plain-text only groups that allow attachments; preserving the ability to have attached images for members who can't attach them in their email interface (or have difficulty controlling the way images are handled, or just forget).

I have long wanted a group option that will strip /and discard/
embedded images. If others agree, follow the first link above and give
it a bump.
You could also pose it as the same control given to Attachments (Allow, Bounce, Strip, and Moderate), I think for the same reasons.

I'm generally a fan of consistent interfaces (having similar things work the same way), when it makes sense. Sometimes that makes them easier to implement and document as well.

I wonder now if it's possible to "effectively" strip embedded images by setting Plain Text Only in message formatting?in addition to disabling attachments. Not really an option for my groups, as we need the ability to attach documents (images? not so much), but maybe it would work. Haven't tested it.

I'm receptive to this, as long as the interactions with message formatting options and the attachments settings could be worked out and well-understood.?

My initial proposal was based on the notion that "simpler is better" and more likely to be implemented. But Mark has other fish to fry, and I've frankly just about given up on any feature of this nature ever landing on his radar screen, the occasional complaints that filter in about sig line images (and so on) notwithstanding.

Understood. My point maybe not made clearly was,?if the group rule is to allow attachments but ban embedded pix, then that possibly poses a problem for many members (iOS) who would otherwise like to ¡°obey the rule.¡± ?

If the owner¡¯s position is, ¡°Tough crap, it¡¯s my group so don¡¯t use an iOS device,¡± that's ok but it doesn¡¯t seem to meet the desired end. But if the desire is to ban all, including embedded, then that¡¯s a different end.?

If the desire is to ban some offensive (for whatever reason) embedded pic (a business card, ad, cartoon, whatever) then that¡¯s a ¡®hole ¡®nother issue (and a black hole it is.)

Maybe I inferred something I shouldn¡¯t have - which ?of the above (or other) rule were you looking to accomplish?
