Transfer process: owner has forgotten Yahoo user name and password

Paul Fraser

Is there a work around for the above, as I believe only the Yahoo list owner can create moderator required for the transfer process.

In my limited experience, another Yahoo moderator of that group should be able to make you a moderator of that group.

Only if the owner has changed the default settings to give moderators that power, I believe, but thanks anyway.

PGOffline provides a way to obtain a personal copy of the group for your own purposes. However, you cannot transfer your message archive to groups.io and reboot a dead group that way. PGOffline cannot export to mbox format, and Mark seems disinclined to import it even if there was.

I can't really blame him. There are plenty of unethical people out there who wouldn't mind stealing someone else's group, and he has no reliable way to filter import requests for that kind of thing. He doesn't need that kind of grief.

Not that I am aware of. It seems that both?MailMan users and Y!G people who cannot get hold of a group Owner have been Direct Adding their subscriber lists as best they can and simply starting over.

Bruce?
