When an invitation is sent to a person what does it look like? The Welcome Message?

I can answer this one. I sent an invitation to another of my email addresses today. This is what I got:

Hello,

You have been invited by Patti to join the Groups.io group [groupname].

If you have questions about this invitation, send them to [group owner email address].

To accept the invitation, please reply to this email, or you may accept the invitation (this is a hyperlink which I deactivated) on the website.

If you are not interested, or if [redacted] is not your email address, please ignore this email.

You can edit the section marked Customized Message on the Invite page.? The boiler plate before/after the custom message is not editable.

I don’t know why I haven’t seen that before?! Since a customized message is included with each invite would it be added after the boiler plate message where it says “Cheers,

Since a customized message is included with each invite would it be
added after the boiler plate message where it says “Cheers, ...
The preview in the "Invitation To Be Sent" box is live - type into the "Customize Message" box and watch it update accordingly.

Tip: I like using horizontal lines at the top and bottom of my custom section to make it more distinct from the boilerplate. Draws the eyes to it. You'll find the horizontal line button on the Advanced toolbar, which you need to open with the button on the right of the normal toolbar.

I customized the Invitation?message in my groups as follows prior to initiating?the actual transfer of the Yahoo groups to Groups.io:

?The fundamental concern is that you don't need to send an invitation to your Y!Group members, they will be copied into your group during the transfer (except those that are Bouncing) - unless you uncheck the box to transfer members.

The transfer process sends a system-supplied "You've been added" notice plus your group's Welcome member notice to all of the copied addresses. You can opt out of either or both of those, but I don't advise it. GMF's wiki page has some advice and examples of tailoring your group's Welcome notice for the transfer.

While I understand the need for some automation here, why are there items in the boilerplate message that I cannot change?? As a paying member, I should be able to customize more of the message.? I do not care for the order of the boilerplate message (it does not flow properly to me) and I really hate the “Cheers, The "My Group" Team" signature.? Why should the signature be chosen for me?

Also, where does the [Name] information pull from when doing a batch of invitations if no name is included.? Does the invitation just come out with [Name]?

If you do not specify a name in the list of e-mails, then it'll say "Hello," and nothing else.

Chuck -- Some basic information must appear in the invitation/direct add messages; otherwise it could be tailored for phishing purposes just to entice someone to click on the subscription link. To my knowledge Mark has not shared all the legal-beagle details.?
