Need to add to and modify the footer of each message
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýCan you tell me how to add to and modify the footer that is appended to each message?? I would like to add a link to the files section for the group, the photos section, and a specific web site.? Can that be done?? How?I also some a comment in one of the messages this weekend that spoke of the user selected signature not getting inserted.? I am running into that problem.? Even though a specific signature is enabled it does not get inserted at the bottom of user messages. Thank you. Jim |
Jim,
Can you tell me how to add to and modify the footer that is appendedThe first item in the Message Formatting section of your group's Settings page is a text box where you can enter a group-specific addition to the message footers. See here for examples of what it looks like. Approximately, the footers have been changed a bit this week, but the page hasn't yet been updated to match. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Footers#Group-specific-addition-to-the-footer I would like to add a link to the files section for the group, theEnter the plain text URL of the links. In HTML formatted messages that will be automatically converted to a link (as shown in the example). In plain text messages it will be passed as plain text (of course), whether it displays as an active link depends on the receiving member's email interface. I also some a comment in one of the messages this weekend that spokeSeems to be working fine on my messages, at least as I see them. We may need more detail on the circumstances to understand what's happening. Are you looking in the group's Messages section, or in your email interface? What email interface? Any special settings? I seem to recall that there may have been a bug with viewing formatted messages in plain text, but I thought that had been fixed. I would like to have an html editor here, so we can create real links; but at this time you can only insert the full URL as plain text and cross your fingers that each recipient's email client will "linkify" it for you.? Another thing to keep in mind is that any links to your files or photos sections will NOT WORK unless the subscriber is already logged in (they will be redirected to the login page). Clicking a link that takes you someplace you don't expect to go may be more confusing than helpful. A link to an external web site should work fine, however.?? Don't forget that it's part of your Subscription (left menu) settings for each group.? What you set for this group won't be the same on another group unless you set it that way. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes,? I have enabled signature for email posting.? I have had several others complain about the same problem.? That is why I posted the question.? If a signature block is set up and enabled it should just work.? In some cases it does but in most it did not.? For that reason I am trying to find out what makes it work or not work even after enabling.Thank you. Jim On 6/18/2018 12:47 PM, Duane wrote:

A footer addition for all group messages is done through the group's Settings page. A signature for your messages is done through your Subscription page.
