How to move messages in the Parent group to subgroup and vice versa #howtoguide #subgroups

Is there a way to achieve this?

I have members (especially new) posting in the parent group even though it should be in the subgroup and vice versa. Maybe it can be both but a Moderator might believe it is better suited in a certain area.

Seems simple enough to do?

Not at this time.

Lots of things seem simple but aren't. It may not even be legal. Considering the GDPR compliance ramifications, it may be best not to second-guess the intentions of your subscribers as to where their posts "should" appear.?

Hope this helps,

Given the Group-Subgroup structure as implemented by Groups.io, there is virtually no possibility of legal issues with moving messages.? In order to even be a member of a subgroup as implemented here one must be a member of the parent group whether one posts there (for either there) or not.

I also do it elsewhere on forums that must comply with those laws, and have before and after they've been in effect.

It's not like moving from a private group to a public one, which could be problematic.

This is a subject that was apparently last covered in 2018.
I've got a Group that a message was sent to us by a member on a new subject to us. It has taken on a life of its own - so I created a SubGroup to 'section it out.' I figured there HAD to be a way to simply link, or Forward, or Move, or SOMETHING to get the - now three distinct-but-same-topic - thread ported over to the new SubGroup. And then i checked the Owners Manual, and then this Group threads.

Has any progress or change been made in what I read here - that there's no way to do that?!

I will Merge all of the messages, and then the three Topics together - in the main message gallery. But I so want to get this all over into its own section...

Thanks all.

There is still no way to move messages between groups.

I submitted it to Beta after I got word that GMF had no way to work with it. If it doesn¡¯t exist, it can¡¯t very well be handled here.

I believe it justifiable as a worthy function.
