New Member Can't Use Her Email Address and Had to Change

I have a brand new member on one of my groups.io group.? She just now posted:

Hi, this is actually not my correct address. It's XXX
When I went to join with that address groups.io said it was not valid.
All my email from this address goes there so that's where I'll be
replying and posting from.
?
What happened?? Why won't groups.io let her use her original address?? Thanks, Mary
 

Insufficient information here to give a good response.?Is your group restricted? Did you try sending her an invitation at that address? Could it be that address is already a member of the group? What exactly did the message say? An actual screenshot or forwarded email would help.

You can also refer her to the instructions for changing email addressese at?/static/help#changeemail?

If she's trying to join with an aliased address that won't work. She will have to join with her real address and then set up the alias in her account settings. Also be advised that while an email alias is allowed for posting, all group email will still be sent to her real address.?

Thanks Bruce.? No, she found us.? My group is restricted before they actually join.? I pass this info along to her.? I guess I could invite her with her preferred email...? ?Thanks again.? Mary
