Optional Message while adding Members

When I am doing an Invite does the Optional message replace the Standard Message?

I cannot edit the standard message, such as being able to put the person¡¯s name in the brackets. I did manage to add my Optional message to the standard, but still could not edit the standard. As a result, it looked dumb.

Thanks,

Richard

The invitee¡¯s name is automatically added.?

Any other text text you add is inserted to the message. You can see what you type in the bottom box (additions) appear in the top box - the invitation.?

Standard Message?
As Frances said, the name gets filled in automatically (the placeholder is there because you may be inviting more than one person at a time), and your text is inserted into the standard text.

I did manage to add my Optional message to the standard, but still
could not edit the standard. As a result, it looked dumb.
What I do is surround my message with horizontal lines to make it clearly distinct from the Groups.io text. See:

I have not supplied names; just e-mail addresses.
Does that serve as a name?
Thanks, Richard

Yes I believe so.

Can't say that I've verified that though.

No, it doesn't serve as a name. If you include just an email address, it will say Dear [blank space].?
