Need help from an owner or person with owner capabilities

A lady in two of my groups can't get into groups.io.? She forgot her password and thinks she can click on Forgot Password, get the link, and then have it take her right to where she can change her password.? She's caught in the loop.? So what I'm trying to do and have done is deleted her from the two sites she belongs to in groups.io (the only sites she belongs to) but she's still now a member of groups.io itself.
How can I get her deleted from groups.io so we can start all over as a new member?? Her email address keeps saying she's a member of groups.io and to input her password so we're stuck. Can someone delete her email address for me?? I'll give you her email addy privately.? My email address is rli@....? I'm an owner of those two sites (AboutOrientalStampArt) and (HandmadeCardsWithCare). She's not very computer literate so I'll be signing her into Groups.io with a temporary password once I can and give her the password so she can go change it to whatever she wants.? Plus she's trying to do this from her cell phone and gets frustrated very easily.? That's why I'm trying to set it up for her. |
Re: Disable Editing Messages in Settings - an issue
The right to control one's own posts is a copyright issue. Posts to the group do not becomes the property of the group or group owner unless that member quits the group or otherwise disappears, essentially abandoning their posts. As long as the poster is a member, you can not take away that ownership, which is what disallowing deleting one's past posts would be.
Disallowing editing of one's posts is only allowed because the original poster (the copyright owner) still has the right to remove that post and optionally repost a corrected message or not. Note that this does not apply to quoted text in other members' messages, however. Those are a reply to the original post, and such reference becomes part of the reply post. Groups.io takes this seriously and egregious copyright violations can get a group shut down immediately, as that puts the entire groups.io system in legal jeopardy. Dano __________________________ Hi - have just changed our settings to read "not allow members to edit their messages" but it still allows members to delete past messages. Is this setting just working forwards in time and not backwards. If only forwards - then it appears a member can not only take out a message but also any photo attached/embedded. Not so good in my view .........barry |

Re: No activity getting through in my group?
Thanks, Pete. I did have that set up wrong, which I think I've now corrected. As to your second comment about the inability of GIO to send out a message, I'm not sure about this. I did change the members email address after copying and pasting in my earlier message. Does this change anything about the real members message? Do I still have his messaging permissions set wrong? Re: No activity getting through in my group?
The first message means your group is set up as an announcement group, which means only moderators can post to it.
The second message means GIO is unable to send a message to 1341 because for some reason that email address is not accepting message. You can find out why by looking at the member's record in the member list and clicking the Email Delivery History tab. Pete |
Re: No activity getting through in my group?
I do see some activities by non-members attempting to post messages to the group, but here is an example a couple of recent one:
Member false1340?<false1340@...>?attempted to send message "Dalton Group still here ?" to an announcement group via email Email to false.1341<false1341@...>?is bouncing via system Perhaps this gives you a little more insight, Chris? Thanks, Dan |
