Unmoderate after x approved posts
#moderation
How does the "Unmoderate after xx approved posts" feature work when a user is Override: Moderated later? One of my groups is "Unmoderate after 2 approved posts". I Override: Moderated one user and

Re: forcing HTML email
J I use this setting for all my groups. I've not had any complaints. We see very few posts come in with stuff left behind and those are handled properly by the system - the trail doesn't appear in

Re: Asking members to trim trailing quotes, versus automation
I'm estimating the error rate at approximately 0.01%. That's about the frequency in my own group. Your argument for getting rid of the feature is, and has always been, entirely based on your notion

Shal, I was 99% sure of this before, but I have now explicitly tested it in my test group: contents within top-post generated ellipses are excluded from search results. J

Brian, I couldn't agree with you more about learning and adhering to group culture in whatever situation you're in. But the group culture HERE is that the system puts prior posts into trailing

Re: Splitting thread problem?
You're quite welcome. I am actually hoping that Mark does eventually make it such that you can mark a single post or contiguous series of posts embedded within a thread for excision where the part of

And, J, who else but the composer should be held responsible for their composition? He's (and I'm) holding them responsible while you're handing them a workaround that shouldn't be needed in the first

Re: Asking members to trim trailing quotes, versus automation
Louise, Are you using plain-text email? If so, this result (the fact that all the trailing posts are included on the site) support my theory that the top-posting algorithm fails with plain-text email.

I am deliberately not going to use that method now to see /show how all of the quoted text from the various authors now returns to everyone. Although I was able to distinguish Shal's words from mine

Re: Asking members to trim trailing quotes, versus automation
J, I think this assertion may need some testing. I don't know that the text hidden under the ellipses button is actually excluded from search (and would be a little surprised if it is). The Groups.io

Re: Asking members to trim trailing quotes, versus automation
Brian, That's a fine contention, but for most groups it probably isn't actionable. That is, the group managers wouldn't likely consider banning the use of mobile device email interfaces to interact

Re: Asking members to trim trailing quotes, versus automation
Brian, I think we're agreed on this. I just find it far easier to accomplish in a plain text compose window. That may in part be due to my choice of email interface (Thunderbird). Meh. It is rare that
