For security reasons, there is a general trend towards emailing links rather than attachments so perhaps Groups.io is no different in this respect. How many organisations do you deal with these days that email documents? An awful lot give you a link to their portal so you can download them yourself.? A downside of sending physical attachments is that they frequently get sent back to the group when people reply or forward emails so you can end up with multiple copies which contribute to your storage allocation.? That can create an additional management overhead if you let it.? If you send a message with a link then your members may only need to login once as the login cookie is valid for 30 days. It may work differently but saying it doesn't work as well is a very subjective statement. Which allows each member (including the organiser) to see who is else attending. It sounds like you are just not familiar with some Groups.io features and doing a whole load of work that's not necessary. I'd recommend investing a little time in understanding Groups.io which will save you lots of time in the future.? As I mentioned above, once you are logged in, the login cookie is valid for an initial 30 days. if you look at something on the site, that 30 day timer gets reset and starts again.? I can't remember the last time I used my email/password to actually login to the site. You are always free to go elsewhere. That seems to be an unrealistic expectation. Can you think of any relatively new application that works the same as something did a couple of decades ago? On Fri, Aug 11, 2023 at 06:19 AM, helpingpawsintl wrote: It seems straight forward to me.? if it's not an all-day event, I uncheck the box and get the option to enter start and end times. The alternative would be show start and end times and have a box to check that indicates an all-day event.? Showing all fields at the outset means the screens can look busier than needed. Only showing them as needed or when requested leads to a much cleaner and easier to navigate interface. The Admin > Settings screen is a good example of this. Perhaps that is part of your concerns.? If you cannot find a few minutes to invest in learning a bit more about the system then could you delegate to someone who can? Again, if you invest a few minutes of your time, in most cases you will find that it is. Your use of the term 'fixes' suggests you think something is wrong whereas it may be by design.?? If you have a suggestion for a change that you think may benefit other users then you can always post that on the official suggestions group called . Regards Andy |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThank you, but it should be straight forward. Start and ends times should be right there along side all day without having to unchecked anything.? ?One should not have to read the manuals or search help or post for help on this forum everytime you need to do something new. I and most managers/ business owners don't have time for that.?? The programers should keep it simple and quick. Thank you for taking the time to try to help. I was hoping people had found a way around these issues or there were fixes not in the manual.? Re: How to send a pdf automatically to my group each month

Thank you, that is what I was reading but was hoping there was an improvement.?
?
?My problem is that I need certain documents to be automatically sent to our members once a month. And please don't tell me to send it as a link because the members won't follow the link, especially one that would require them to log in.?
?
Without that feature groups.io is useless to us except for sending emails. Even the calendar doesn't work as well as yahoo groups did.
?
It sends the RSVP back to the calendar/online instead of directly to the event organizers email.
?
We have been using groups.io since yahoo closed but it has doubled communication management time since we have to send those monthly documents by hand in an email attachment. And, we also have to send our monthly events in individual emails to get the rsvp to the right person.?
?
It's just too much trouble to have to log in to groups.io to see the RSVPs.
?
We are just very disappointed in groups.io. We thought it would be more like the original yahoo groups since it was set up by the same person

Member Notices doesn't seen to allow one to attach documents like yahoo groups did.No, there's not.? It's easy enough to create a Member Notice of type Monthly Reminder that will automatically be sent, but not in PDF format.? If you have to have PDF format, you'll need to create a message and attach the file manually every time. Duane -- Lots of detailed information can be found in the Owners Manual and Members Manual. |

Re: #settings renaming email address

Yes, I will do that. Thanks.
Now that I'm back handling this group I set up 5 years ago, I'm being asked to try to advertise it. That's another learning curve for me to try to learn. I've tried to explain that this is a group emailing site, not an enterprise site. We're a non-profit social club. My nickname for the group is the ROMEOs Retired Old? Men Eating? Out |

Thanks, Christos. I understand, and the rationale is clear.
But... This is a forum for 100+ men who are mostly in their 60's+. I can't have posts that aren't related to our calendar of events or special announcements be allowed. Only the membership chair and owners need to see posts from people who want to join, so that we can review first. |

Re: lost control of group
I tried to join Jim¡¯s group, just to get a message to other group owners or moderators about Jim¡¯s predicament. Still showing as application in process, so I assume the answer is that they have noone else to help manage. Once again I am very grateful to members of this group for their continuing advisement over time to have some backups in group ownership and management. And to read the manual thoroughly before making any changes. I also am not trying to be snarky; was trying to help Jim out by going in through another route.
