subscription proceedings - that questionnaire again
J,
As you explained to me I put our questionnaire in a member notice which is activated. The usual procedure is that someone wants to join and signs up to the group. He then must confirm the email adress. At this moment I get the usual mail saying: "This is to notify you that .......has joined your group [email protected]." When I look this up in my members list, I see that person?s mail adress and the NuM sign behind it. In this first test case I?m in private mail contact with that person, and she wrote me that she didn?t get the questionnaire. This was hours ago. I haven?t got any further notice from groups.io either. Must I unmoderate this person first, and then he gets the questionnaire? Or at what exact step is she supposed to take to receive it? Or which step must I take? Confusing.... Mustn?t she get the questionnaire before I unmoderate her? At the moment for me that?s the most important question, for I must know beforehand who joins our group. We?ve always handled it like that in YG. Quite concerned Victoria |
That Address is not valid
I am trying to create a subgroup. I have already created two, and this third one is giving me a problem. When I try enter a group email address for the subgroup, it comes back and says 'That Address is not Valid'. The address I am using is
Scientifically-Unaccepted-Theories I have tried this a number of times and even logged off and went back in. What could be the problem? Stan |

Thanks for the time in making the reply. I'm swamped right now with all the little nuances that are popping up with the transfer of almost 2,000 members--I will spend more time reviewing your reply then get back to you if I have more questions. YOU are one of the MAIN reasons I've moved from Yahoo to Groups.io, so THANKS!!!! Harlan hsteinle@... -----Original Message-----

There has been some speculation in another thread that some of this results from members who wanted to unsubscribe from the Yahoo Group, but due to glitches were unable to do so. Now, presented the opportunity afresh, they took it. > I added my OWN wording in the space I was allowed to add, but I > couldn't change the 'canned groups.io' wording ... I'm a little confused by this. The Invite type of Member Notice has boilerplate, but it isn't used during a transfer. The Welcome type of Member notice is used, if Active, but you control the entirety of that message body. There is also, if you don't uncheck it, a "You have been added to ..." message from Groups.io, but you cannot provide any text to that -- unless that is a Premium feature? > ... so I also had a lot of people go directly TO the groups.io page > and things REALLY got confusing to them as they thought they had to > subscribe again and misinterpreted the coverpage thinking they could > use hashtags (I have that function unavailable to members right now) > wiki (also disabled right now) etc and when they couldn't they sentme > one of hundreds of emails I've gotten this morning. Oh, you mean they went to the Groups.io home page first, and saw the feature description for the product? Heh. The groups I've transferred have all been fairly small (a few hundred members) and had gone fairly dormant prior to the transfer. So I haven't had a lot of experience yet with members confused by all the features of Groups.io. Re: Contacting the Owner/Moderators OFF group - I'm Not Finding This ...
When reading online, you can go to the More menu below the post and select "Report This Message".? That opens a box where you can enter the reason, as well as choose whether it should go to the group moderators or the site management, before sending it.

Contacting the Owner/Moderators OFF group - I'm Not Finding This ...
Hi all,
? I'm not finding the groups.io equivalent to "send an email to the owner of the group". I'm talking about the method of contacting the owners/moderators -without- making it a post to the entire group.? For instance, in order to report a post/member who is breaking the rules of the group.?? ? Where is it?? How does a simple user know how to use it? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? - Jim B. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? |

IO is a powerful platform but it is also very complex. Sometimes I feel like I am drowning in a sea of queries and instructions. Speaking of learning slowly, I haven't been able to sort out this calendar thing, yet. I surely miss some essential information here. Or maybe this is not the appropriate ffeature for what I need. When I was in my old YG group I used to send a reminder manually to the group to remind members of important deadlines concerning calls, applications, etc. Now that I am on IO I'd like to use the calendar to have these reminders automatically sent to members. Something like "Remember that applications will no longer possible after day-month" or "Remember that subscriptions to workshop close on day-month". I'd like to have just one reminder sent to the group. But all I get are two different messages: one with the actual reminder (hashtag #cal-reminder) and, on the deadline date, a second message with the same reminder (hashtag #cal-notice). This happens even if I don't check the options Send Invite to Group and Sent Notice when Event happens. Is there a way to have just one reminder sent to the group? Marina |

I'm already on all owner emails, and the email never came to my spam folder. It only went to him and not to me. Thanks, Matt On Tue, Feb 27, 2018 at 7:55 AM, Lena <Lena@...> wrote: On Mon, Feb 26, 2018 at 02:16 pm, Matthew King - AK4MK wrote: |
Re: New members in pendingmodus
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have a restricted membership group.? When someone applies for membership I get a message that person has joined the group.? In actuality they are not members until either an owner or moderator approve them for membership.

Go to Admin->Settings->Spam Control. Do you have the group set to "Restricted Membership?"?
The group must be "restricted" to keep members from subscribing without your approval. Moderation applies only to messages. Bruce |
Re: files recurring periodically in the group
Go to Admin->Settings and click on Member Notices at the top of the page. Create a Groups Guidelines notice. There should be a checkbox that will allow this notice to be sent once a month. I recommend that you do NOT send it as a Special Notice, so leave that unclicked unless you want to annoy some of your members.
You are only allowed to create on Group Guidelines notice, so make sure it says everything you want to say. I'm told it's also possible to send notices periodically based on the group calendar, but I haven't looked into that option yet. Hope this helps, Bruce |
Re: Deleting folders
#files
They should see it. There was a recent report where someone on a tablet didn't see them, but they were there, just not visible on the same line.

Accessing Attachments
Hi Fellow Moderators, especially refugees from Yahoo! Groups,
So far, my members are very happy with Groups.io. They like the clean interface and the fact that attachments always come through, no matter how you attach them to the email. It was a big issue in Yahoo Groups (Y!G) that some would appear and some would not for those using the digest or the website (no email). I don't want to dwell on the Y!G problem, but it was a major driver for our group to move to Groups.io. There is one niggle though about the way digest users access attachments. Email users get the full attachment (unless they have set the Advanced Option to control attachments by size), website (no email) users see a link and that works fine, as they already logged in. By the way, in Y!G, we had the option set so that attachments were always stored on the website and accessed via a link. This link was coded (I believe) so that you did not require a logon to access the attachment. Now, it seems that you do need to login before you can see the attachment, which worries some of my members. Then they get into - do I need to set a password? how do I do that? loop of questions.? Yes, I know they can use the link to set up no password access for 30 days, but that is also confusing for them as they do not understand how it works. I am just wondering how other ex Y!G moderators feel and if they would like to see the same kind of access as Y!G introduced to Groups.io, so there is a coded link and they don't need a login? Regards John Russell |
Re: reset cover photo
So that it's clear, you have to edit the photos to combine them, you can't just add 2 photos.
