The rss feed for a group only seems to work when the group is set to publicly viewable messages. On further reflection, I think I know what you mean...you're trying to get an RSS feed FROM your GIO group and read that via a reader, or perhaps on a web site. I believe you're correct...this will only work if you have publicly-viewable archives. Which kinda makes sense, because otherwise anyone who stumbles across your feed URL would be able to read group messages, whether they were subscribed or not.? At this time it is not possible to revert a private group back to public. I don't fully understand why not, but when you do switch to private a warning box pops up with bells and whistles saying this is a one-way decision. The only way I know to remedy this within the context of the owner interface is to start a new group with public archives and migrate your subscribers/files/photos by hand. Failing that, you're going to have to contact Mark at [email protected]?and ask him what your options are. I'll say it again...I hope this helps...if not, more information needed. Bruce |
Re: Can a poll be locked?
Marie Alline
Yes it can. If you go to your polls, via Messages/topics, polls you will see a little drop down arrow next the the name of each poll. Just click on that to close or delete poll. Closing it will lock it so results can be viewed but it is closed and can no longer be voted on. Hope this helps.

Re: Yahoo might be dead - transfer questions
Thank you to everyone for the immensely helpful and informative information! My needs are not particularly time sensitive, so I can certainly wait until next week when the person who does this returns from vacation.?

Can a poll be locked?
Randy Thomson
I have a poll that has been completed and I would like to lock it so that no more votes or vote changes can be made. Locking the poll appears only to prevent adding replies to the topic. Is there a way to lock a poll so no changes can be made, without deleting the topic?

Using an rss reader with the users email address and password for the group does not allow the retrieval of the rss feed.It is not clear from your post how you have attempted to implement the RSS feed. In my group they are implemented using an Integration. Once you provide the feed URL the messages come in and are remailed (and perhaps moderatred) with a #feed hashtag; much as if it came from a Subscriber. You don't need a separate RSS reader. I hope this helps...if not, more information needed. Bruce |
I did merge
Dan Persson
had to change home email adress (updating with new fiber connection) and made something wrong, really wrong.
Did get message about merging and did that. Now my account is empty and can't find way back. What to do, start all over again? Just find groups again and rejoin or is there anyone that can see what happend?? But, for the time using this, it's way better than yahoo (but that is no news for you :)) /Dan |

This and similar options have been an often-requested feature in the beta group. Please be advised that if you turn off photos entirely then any image attachments to emails will not be saved on the server. While this may seem like a good thing, they will also go missing from your message archives. I believe they still get forwarded in the actual emails but a significant fraction of my members don't receive group emails and?instead do all their message browsing on the web. Regards, Bruce |

Re: emails to group instead of sender
#issue
If you want your members to always reply to sender, and never to the group, there is a setting you can change.
Go to Admin/Settings Scroll down the Settings page to the Message Policies area About mid-way in the Messages Policies box is a setting called Reply To. You can set this to Sender.? I have my group set to Sender and Group right now, so that users can select to send to the Sender only, but it's not easy to change it to Sender only, especially if the person is responding from an e-mail. Re: deleting Photos
Marie Alline
Bruce and others, having Photos enabled means that anything that comes through your group that have any graphics with have the graphics dumped in a folder in your photos section, quickly taking up space. I don't know why it is set up that way here. I have never seen that before anyplace else. There is a work around however...if you need to use photos you can enable photos in the files section, by first enabling them in the admin settings, create a folder for your photos in the files section and just disable the photos section. There are also a few other settings that can help. I have attached a screen shot of my settings that may help with that.?

Re: Monthly Repeating Events in Calendar
Jim,
I've verified the 'Repeats' options apply to the event itself, not to any reminder. To achieve what you've asked, create a new event on the next available 2nd Saturday and, if event time is not important choose 'All Day' in the 'Date and Time' panel. In the 'Repeats' panel, select 'Event Repeats', choose 'Monthly' for the frequency and set 'Repeat Every' to '1' to mean every month. Next, choose 'Repeat by day of the week' and then, finally, choose an appropriate date for 'Ends' (or 'Never Ends' for a perpetual event). If you wish to send reminders, that can be configured in the 'Reminders' panel towards the bottom of the event edit screen.? Or did I misunderstand the question? Best regards, Matt H |
