Re: Another Member Left Group & No Notification to Owner - 2nd Time
Paul,
This still doesn't explain why their "Left" doesn't show in theI suggest sending this to [email protected] I've read of a few holes in the activity logging, but those I believe had to do with members who closed their Groups.io account or who merged it with another account. Whatever the cause though, I think not having their exit from the group logged in some fashion should be regarded as a "bug" and hopefully fixed. Re: Add mygroup+moderators alias?
wunder,
In the beta group you suggested: One of the first things I tried to do when setting up my first That address forwards to all moderators and owners. Subject to each mod/owner's Owner Email setting on his/her Subscription page. Each may choose to receive all messages sent to that address, only those sent by members of the group, or none of them. You as owner can view or change a member's or moderator's subscription settings by clicking on their row in the Members list. Moderators need the "Set Member Subscription Options" or "Set Moderator Privileges" permission to do that. Analytics / Metrics
Hi all!
Is there a way to see analytics on activity by member?of how many messages they replied to or sent? In the member activity section, it shows various actions, but doesn't show 1) how many messages this person sent, 2) how many replies, etc. I've been looking through the past posts and online but didn't see anything about it.? I'm basically trying to find a way to evaluate how active certain members are, to find the lurkers and to encourage the contributors. Thanks! |

Re: Major issues in my group, spoofed or something internal in IO??? Help please.
That is a very interesting post Marv, I also wish I had your skills!! I'm pretty good with computer software and have in the past taught myself a little HTML, just for fun, but it is very much a fascination of mine when someone can build an entire site and or system with just code and some of the games these days are astounding, the coding must be incredible.?
I know enough to fix most issues with my families pcs software wise mainly & am constantly learning but Shal's replies to my issues offlist have been most interesting and another learning curve.? |

Another Member Left Group & No Notification to Owner - 2nd Time
Premium Group. Awhile back I posted a similar problem with a member leaving with no notification to the owners, this has happened again. The problem is that when I checked the Past Member list, I have another member marked as "Left." I got no alert and when I check their Activity History, there is nothing that shows they left. They joined August 2, I approved their membership on August 3 and the Past Member list has them "Left" on August 9. I contacted them and they intentionally left the group.
This still doesn't explain why their "Left" doesn't show in the Activity History or why Groups.io isn't sending the alert. I have all of the Notifications checked for delivery and am getting some "Left" notices. If I didn't have a Premium Group, I'd never know that these members left the group. How often is this happening on Regular Groups without notification. This appears to be a program problem. Thanks & Wonder what to do? Paul, Ohio, USA |

Re: Feature Request / Suggestion. Ability to search the title field in pictures
Peter,
I¡¯m glad that Mark has a ticket for this improvement. But I noticedOnly by posting in beta@. Here's a recent topic on the subject that you could reply to. Ignore the naysayers. Or you could find another, or start your own. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Message Folders
Ron,
Is there any way of creating message 'folders' where a user couldNo. But in addition to the grouping of messages by Topic, as Bruce mentioned, you can group topics by adding Hashtags to them. The Hashtags page on your group gives you and your members a convenient way to find all topics containing a given hashtag. /static/help#hashtags Only a moderator can add a hashtag to an existing topic. You do that either 1) by selecting the Edit Subject item in the drop menu on the topic in the Topics view of the group's Messages list; 2) selecting Edit Topic from the drop menu on the message in the Messages view of the group's Messages list; or 3) by selecting Edit Topic from the More menu when viewing any message in the topic. You can also use the Edit button on any hashtag in the Hashtags page to add a description to that hashtag. ? Question:If I create a new poll, and select the option that says only moderators and the creator can view responses, who answered, etc., if I (moderator) see the button that says display results, am I correct that I'm only seeing it because I'm a moderator and no one else can?? Or is that a totally dumb question cause i admit i've not tried to logout and then log back in as a "regular" member. Thanks. ? |

Until international cooperation on prosecuting cybercrime becomes more prevalent, preventing this stuff will be a struggle. I wish it were different. There are other reasons for the spate of cybercrime. As one of the engineers that built many of the systems preyed upon today, I can tell you that thirty or forty years ago when the foundations were laid, we were so naive (dumb?) about networks, security was seldom thought about, and when it was, often neglected for features that would sell product. Some product managers used to say that security was a nuisance that inhibited sales. I don't blame them: they were right. We got many customer complaints that security was inconvenient.?The correct response would have been to design more convenient security instead of pushing it aside. But I have not heard that kind of talk lately. The industry has wised up but there is now so much to be fixed. If email, for example, were built today, a lot of the problems we experience now would be impossible. Accurate hindsight is a wonderful thing, but largely useless. Foresight is precious and uncommon. Wish I had more of the latter. Thank you for the opportunity to get this off my chest. Best, Marv |

Max,
I am sure the owner doesn't analyze likes.Neither I nor any other member of GMF works for Groups.io - this is a user-to-user forum. Martin WHEELER
Interestingly, the mail I sent saying I had resolved my problem had some
extra text in the subject line following the exclamation mark -- which doesn't appear on the version put out by the list. This didn't prevent the mail from getting through -- but it's worth noting for future reference. Re: Major issues in my group, spoofed or something internal in IO??? Help please.
Hi Shal. I just wish these hackers/spammers would put their 'skills' to good use and go get a proper job! They are incredibly clever some of them and to save myself time and aggro I have used Mailwasher pro for many years. That is probably the reason I didn't get the 'spam' messages from 'me' in my inbox as I normally just hit delete on mine as it's just copies of what I've myself sent to group.?
I am extremely careful with e-mail and if in the slightest doubt take proper precautions because as you say they can look incredibly convincing.? I am going to watch carefully and continue monitoring but again today things are nice and quiet. Your help with this and your explanation of the headers has been most helpful to me & is much appreciated and I've shared your replies with my co-owner and Paula.? |
