Re: OK to use some GMF wiki as start for my own group?
#wiki
Su,
Is it OK to use the more basic info in the GMF Wiki as a startingYes. Note that GMF's Wiki is open to the public. For information that you don't need to customize you may wish to link to GMF's page instead of copying it - that way you and your group members will have the benefit of any later improvements. And speaking of improvements, if you can improve upon any of GMF's pages please do so. If yes, is there a way to copy over multiple pages at once, ...Not that I know of. Re: Getting at the raw email text
Stephano,
My "owners" can view the source:The View Source item in the More menu is the way to see the raw message header and body text. It sounds like you're looking for something else, but I'm not sure what. Can you elaborate on what you're hoping to see? Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
Re: Creating an alias
Mike,
Any suggestions on how can we create this type of alias? That may depend on what you think "this type of alias" does. In Groups.io those addresses are for posting only - no group messages or notices are sent to them. Any messages posted by them post as if they were posted by the primary (subscription) address. In Yahoo Groups addresses of this kind are referred to as "Alternate Posting Addresses". As Duane said, if the address is already in use (someone used it to join a group, or to log into the site) then it cannot be used as an Alias for another address. OK to use some GMF wiki as start for my own group?
#wiki
I would like to create some basic help pages for my group. Is it OK to use the more basic info in the GMF Wiki as a starting point? If yes, is there a way to copy over multiple pages at once, or is it only doable a page at a time?
Thanks, Su |

The link says "For the transfer, we ask that you sign up for the Premium Yearly plan" I have looked, but nowhere can I find details of costing! groups.io was recommended to me, but based on the difficulty of finding transfer detail or costing I am beginning to have reservations. Removed for spam query
Quick question:? If someone is removed for marking a group message as spam, is either the Goodbye or Removed Member notice ever sent, too?
My guess is no, but could use confirmation on this from one who knows for sure. Thanks, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

Getting at the raw email text
I can view a message using the web UI pretty simply:
/g/somegroup/message/15512 My "owners" can view the source: /g/somegroup/original/15512 Is there a way for my owners to also see the raw email text? This would be handy if they wanted to retrieve a patch sent to the list in plain text and apply that patch using git-am, for example. Perhaps there are other better ways to do this as well. I'm open to whatever works. Cheers, Stephano |
Creating an alias
Mike Cohen
Some members on our group?[email protected]?are trying to create an alias like?kk4pcr@...?and get the message that it is already registered, yet it is not showing up as an alias.? Other members have successfully created it.? Examples:?kt4ls@...,?kk4usm@...,?KN4OAK@....? Any suggestions on how can we create this type of alias? Thanks, Mike |

How do polls work?
I try to create a poll, and all I got were messages back to me. I never was able to go back to the pool and look at it. It did not exist as a separate entity. I was expecting something more like yahoogroups.
To summarize: created poll. Seven answers came directly to me. Went back to poll feature. No evidence I had ever been there before. Great disappointment. Look for information in help section. Nothing. Now asking for help here. |
Re: Migrate Yahoo
Ian, Clicking on Migrate Yahoo link gives no detail and wants me to login, although Google Groups Transfer seems to have instructions. ? The Yahoo Group transfer instructions page needs a login because it contains a facility to check on the status of your transfer. The easy solution is to log in, and the easy way to do that is to click the Email me a link to log in button. When you receive the email message, click the link and you'll be logged in. No muss, no fuss, no need to set anything up. You can take the opportunity to visit your account page and set things up as you like, but it isn't required. If you don't want to do that yet, the topic Duane referred to has links to user-supplied information on how to accomplish a transfer.
