Re: Custom footer for individual conversation threads

Sam, I find that hashtags work well to organize conversations. And you can find hashtags in the sidebar of your group site - for example:
/g/GroupManagersForum/hashtags Frances -- /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki /static/help More help: use the search button at the top of the Messages list. |

Anyway, the way that this bounce message is displayed by Groups.io makes it appear as if it was the first message in the thread that bounced. The subject line is not preceded by "Re:", so I assumed that the message that bounced was the first message. But there is a link to the message, and now I clicked the link, and discovered that the message that bounced was the user's own message. In other words, she received all the other messages, but her own one bounced at her side. This explains why the e-mail addresses are the same: because she sent only one message, from user@..., and that message then bounced on her side twice. If I understand correctly, then, we would be able to avoid these bounce messages by simply setting her account not to send her a copy of her own mails. Is there such a setting (i.e.: do not send me my own mails)? I'm not sure if these bounces are dangerous in the long run. Thanks Samuel |

Custom footer for individual conversation threads
#question
Hello, new user here (owner).? I am trying to determine whether it is possible to customize an individual footer per conversation thread (as opposed to a footer for all messages in the group). Sam |

Re: 550 Rejected by header based Anti-Spoofing policy
Samuel, When I visit the message history Group's history? If you mean the group's Activity Log, that records delivery failures To the group, whereas the member's Email Delivery History records delivery failures From the group. When? ? Message Reason The cited help page has information about a bypass policy that the member can set to avoid this bounce message. He/she will need to know Groups.io's sending IP address:
66.175.222.12
The other approach would be for the member to contact support and nominate his/her account as one that needs From address munging in the manner being done for users with email hosted on Microsoft (Outlook 365 or Exchange) servers. What I find odd is that both bounce messages refer to user@.... From what you say later I'm going to guess that those both refer to the same account at that organization. Why there are two domains for it I don't know. Sounds like one or the other of his two subscriptions should be set to No Email here as well. It would probably have been better if one had been made an Alias address of the other, but it may be too confusing to try to unwind that now. 550 Rejected by header based Anti-Spoofing policy
Hello
I have a member who have/had some e-mail problems that I'm still in the process of sorting out. The member is currently subscribed with two e-mail addresses, say, user@... and user@.... When I visit the message history of both these accounts, I see a bounce notice (although oddly I don't see this bounce mentioned in the group's history): For account user@...: Recent Bounces When Message Reason Mar 28 [message title] 550 Rejected by header based Anti-Spoofing policy: user@... - [6lDVz9szPvqv-XYAnfANkQ.za31] For account user@...: Recent Bounces When Message Reason Mar 28 [message title] 550 Rejected by header based Anti-Spoofing policy: user@... - [Md2vVsKuMW6C1h0uPf43KA.za82] What I find odd is that both bounce messages refer to user@.... In other words, a message that was sent to user@... triggered a bounce message that mentions user@.... (The code at the end of the message is also different, I assume it's a reference number.) Can anyone shed some light on this? (This member was subscribed to the Yahoogroup using both e-mail addresses, with one of them set to no-mail, and this had something to do with forwarding of mails within their company, so that the user thinks he's using e-mail address X whereas in fact his e-mails' headers say he's using e-mail address Y, or something like that.) Thanks Samuel |

Re: trouble creating my e o list yet
Hi Bill,
Off-list you said: The problem appears to be in the email address. The meswsage acts likeThat is possible. You (as a group owner/mod) get to decide whether to include the group in Groups.io's directory or not. So your group name may be taken by a group that is unlisted. I will disclose that with moderators approval. You may if you wish. Remember though that GMF's Messages are public - and searchable with web search engines. Normally I think that's a good thing for a help group like this (so people can find answers) but one does have to decide what kinds of information you want to post in public. Also, I get a create list instead of a finish button.Clicking the Create List button creates the group, there is nothing else to finish, really. From there you continue setting up the group using the normal group Settings page. Please can somebody give me a suggestion? I use screenreadingI don't know if that figures in to the problem you are having, but I know there are other vision-impaired members of GMF who may be able to you better details on using the site with those tools. No matter what I try, I cant create my nostalgia list. I even tried aInvalid is different than already taken, so there may be some other problem involved. Do I pay?No. Not until you've created your group, and only if you want to upgrade to Premium features. You will have to do that (prepay for one year) to use the Easy Group Transfer function to copy your Yahoo Group's content. Re: Problems editing Wiki or Messages on Mobil Devices
Ken,
Look at it on a tablet.Don't have one. I've addressed this B4 to Beta and it's fallen on deaf ears. Along w/Maybe Mark is too focused on finishing the mobile apps to do much fine-tuning of the responsive interface. If so that's a shame, I'm not a big fan of infesting my mobile devices with third-party apps. But we're off topic here because Su's problem has been resolved by widening his browser window. On a Win10 desktop, with Firefox, I find the window must be 1010 pixels wide or so at 100% zoom to have the full set of buttons. I don't know how that translates to units on a tablet, because the browser zoom figures into it to (it is the width in some kind of text size units, not pixels, that matters). If the browser on your tablet lets you zoom out (make the text smaller) that might do the trick. Re: Subgroups and email addresses question
#subgroups
Su,
So it is recommended to tell members of the change in the addressI would, just so that they don't worry that something has gone wrong or that the group has been "hacked" (that seems to be a popular catch-all worry these days). Also, is there a reason the lists aren't configured this way to beginPartially it is history - subgroups weren't in the initial rollout of Groups.io. A lot of water under the beta bridge, just about three years ago. Also I think the idea is that the default case (no subgroups) should have a "normal" list address, like other list services (list name to the left of the @ sign, hosting service to the right). I think at one point I suggested in beta that the subdomain form be accepted from the start, to prime the pumps as it were. I don't find that post at the moment. But that didn't go as far as your suggestion, which is to make it the address from the start. I can hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from group owners who don't intend to ever have a subgroup. But if existing groups are grandfathered as-is and all new groups start off with subdomain addressing that might not be such a bad thing. Over time it becomes the new normal (at least for groups on Groups.io). Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Problems editing Wiki or Messages on Mobil Devices
Ken,
Parts of the toolbar (VERY IMPORTANT PARTS) are not available onI'm not sure there's actually a distinction between PC or mobile in Groups.io's rendering - I think it is all based on screen size. For example, if on my PC I drag my browser window to be very narrow I get the same layout that I see on my smartphone. On the other hand I don't seem to be able to "zoom out" enough on my smartphone to see all the buttons. Perhaps if Su's bug report gets attention this will get better for mobile too.
