Member account suspended
A member of my discussion group forwarded me the following email message. I recall that a member can have their account suspended because the ISP is doing something IO does not like (I don't remember what). The member is supposed to get an email message from IO that allows the person to make their account active again. Is the message below this email message? I am sure it is, but since this is the first time this has happened I need to make sure it is so that I don't give the wrong advice.

Our group is hidden -who can invite new members-is it only owners/moderators?Owners, and Moderators who have been given the "Invite Members" privilege, can send invitations. Regular Subscribers or Moderators without this permission cannot. Having said that, if you don't want people to be able to join on their own initiative (via the +subscribe address or the button on the group home page), you should also be sure to use the Restricted method of Spam Control. And could someone I invited pass that e-mail link to a different person for them to use to join? No. The link only works to subscribe the email address it has been sent to. ? How can I found it on my group?Click on Admin then Members; this will bring up a list of all your members. Find the individual member whose Notes you wish to see, and click on their entry in the list anywhere other than the checkbox. Notes is the 4th tab from the left, and will turn from grey to blue when you click on it. Write such notes are as required and click on Update below the composition box. Chris |

Marcio,

When you open a member's page (from the Members list) Notes is one of the tabs.
?
A key weakness with this mechanism, in my opinion, is that there's no flag on the list itself or other easy method to tell if a member has a note or what it says. You have to open each Membership page and click the tab to find out.

Re: Notice to group
loopy,
A Note to Member cannot be scheduled to send to the group. The only Member Notice that can is Group Guidelines, and its only schedule selection is "monthly".
Perhaps you created a repeating event in the Group's calendar. You can give a time to be sent and under Repeats select Weekly and Repeat On Thursday. Don't set any reminders, instead check the Send Notice To Group When Event Happens box. Members and Notes

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi,A few days ago I saw someone mentioning something about members note, a place where we, mods and owners, can write things about members. How can I found it on my group? As always, thanks a lot for any and all help!

Notice to group

Hi
It might be useful if there was a bit in the wiki about settings and getting started with a new group or a transferred group. In this section: Best Practices for Group Management,?Topics of interest to group owners and moderators,?Group Formation
-- /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/home There is great detailed info on specific topics, but no overview for someone just forming a group or AFTER getting a group transferred from Yahoo. The settings page is quite detailed so it doesn't make sense to duplicate it. But there are some crucial things to point out, like some things the member changes and some things are set by the owner. For example, time zone by the member and message policies by the owner. Frances /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki /static/help More help: use the search button at the top of the Messages list. |

Re: Message History
Hi
It isn't the message history that takes room. Here's what it says in the wiki and in Help ?
The following are counted towards the storage limits for your group:
?
Files
Photos
Images in databases
Images in wiki pages
Message attachments
Messages themselves are not counted towards the storage limits, only any attachments.
?
What Happens If I Go Over My Storage Limits?
?
We send you a warning when you've reached 80% of your storage limit. You can configure your group to either bounce messages when you've reached your storage limit, or to automatically delete old attachments to keep you under the storage limit. Photos and files are never automatically deleted.

Then divide THAT number into the remaining space (581 MB here) to see about how many more you can expect to store before the space gets full.? Some will be larger and some smaller, so this is only an estimate.? From what I've seen (not much) tags take about 1 MB each, more or less. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýLavon,I went in and checked and it said? Using 419 MB total storage out of 1GB so how close are we to using our 1 GBWell, when your group reach 500mb, this will be half of this 1gb. when this fills up what do we doWhen this fills up (I personaly would advice you doing it before this happens), you'll have to delete old attachments (files, photos etc.). then when we have no more room to store ?If you don't delete anything then yes, you'll have no more room to store anything, however messages without attachments will still be sent (anyone will correct me if I'm wrong :) ). Hope this helps Cheers, AKA Starboy Sent from a galaxy far, far away. |
