Removing test posts with no linked account

Cindy in DE

Hi I am a moderator for a new IO group called DelawareStateFreeCycle that we are moving from Yahoo groups.?
?
I've been doing a lot of testing over the past couple of days to see how different things work. I have added and removed the same email account several times and posted messages under this email account. But now the account is no longer a member, I deleted it, and I have two test messages from this nonexistent account that are still there that I would like to delete that I don't know how to. When I go to the message, and click the "more" link the "delete" option is not there like it is for a posting for a member who is still existing in the group and posted the message.? (I already successfully deleted those)
?
Is there a way to delete these two test messages in our io group before I announce this group to our old Yahoo group for members to start signing up?? I would really like for that email account address and messages not be visible to anyone under messages.??
?
I would greatly appreciate any help someone could provide. I know I'm late in the game getting this group up and started with Yahoo groups going away very very soon....
?
And I am a beginner with io groups.
?
Thanks,
?
?o? Cindy ?o?
?

message search doesn't find all results

I just tried to find some of my own posts to this list, and put my name into the search window, and only got one result back, even though I've posted in a number of different threads.

Is there another way to display all of my own posts, that's more reliable?

Thanx.

Isis

I think the problem is that it does see the difference and both have accounts.? Joe.smith@ gmail.com and joesmith@ gmail.com are totally different people as far as GIO is concerned, every character counts.? I don't know how you'd delete the errant account if you don't have access to it.? All you can do is unsubscribe it, then add the correct one.

Probably not.? You can contact [email protected] and they'll arrange to refund you and delete your group.

We don't know for sure if that includes the groups that were transferred into subgroups (though I suspect it does), which would have been no extra charge.? We do have some evidence that another 7000 groups were created as well.? Don't forget that any income from this will need to cover the next year of expenses.? I don't think we need to be speculating.

This type of question should be asked on the PGO forums,

Re: "CHANGE: We are no longer accepting new Yahoo Group transfer requests"?

I had a group transfer started a couple of weeks ago, but due to yahoo problems, the actual invitation to [email protected]?just went out yesterday.? Are they still going to take it and get things started soon?? After all, I paid good money for a transfer and did meet the initial dates, and everything proceeded as quickly as it could.

Is there any way that we can restrict members from exporting a database that has been set up by a moderator / owner ?
If not can this be put on a Wish List ?

Thank you,

Maria,

The only way to prevent a member from exporting a table is by disabling their ability to view the table. This setting is found in Admin / Settings under the Database / Permissions section: "Subscribers cannot view, moderators can create tables"

Disabling clicking on the "Export Database" would only be an inconvenience as it is easy enough to copy and paste the information from the table while viewing it in a browser.

Re: Email addresses

So found this old topic about editing someone's email.? (The thread did have warnings about doing this)? ?But, I'm interested in doing this for a strange reason...

We added a bunch of emails to our group (premium, so we could do the add).? ?Somehow, 1 or two email addresses have special characters at the end of them (see photo).? ? When I edit the email, delete the special characters, then try to Save - I get the warning "That email address is already registered."

It seems like the system isn't realizing the difference between? [email protected]<special>? ?and @gmail.com

- Is this a bug?
- If the system is ignoring these special characters, should I care?

thoughts?

You are quite correct. I tumbled to my misuse this morning. Was sooo tired last night, and perhaps had been talking overly much with a sys admin friend about their world.

I'll go hold my head now over the whole Reply thing.

PG O Membership Download Query

Where doies PG O store the downloaded membership lists?

Can PG O download 'bouncing' and other lists?

Thanks,

Re: "CHANGE: We are no longer accepting new Yahoo Group transfer requests"?

I bet you that when next week comes many groups will get really upset wondering what happened?? Some owners believe it or not have not told their members of this change. I have a group I let the members know. One member is on a group where the owner hasnot said a word . Thanks to my announcing exactly whats going to happen she went and set her email to individual from no mail .its going to be a mess next week?

(I have a major group I was Procrastinating transferring from yahoo groups!)

You have missed the boat, as far as the Easy Yahoo Groups Transfer is concerned.

There are still rowboats available, in the form of ($25) to download to your computer a copy of your group's Members, Messages, Files, Photos, and Links. But not Databases or Calendar Entries, those you must get manually if you want them. It also doesn't seem to get the metadata (Description, Comments) about Files and Photos.

what happened???

You've been living under a rock?

Well, about October 14th Yahoo put a banner up at the top of every Yahoo Group's page announcing the removal of all user content from the web pages, and the conversion of Yahoo Groups into a purely email list service. For the latest news see the and a recent "" email.

I suppose I could just create a new identical group of the same ?members at groups.io....and ?manually add all my old members, or have them join. Right??

That's an option. Also see Moving to Groups.io.

I guess most Yahoo users haven't heard about the impending closure.

Since there were at least ten million groups at Yahoo, of which Mark has said about 3000 moved here recently, that leaves 9,997,000 more who are about to get a pre-Christmas surprise.

Alex, as others have said, there are several tools you can use (but only up until Saturday) to retrieve and store your members and messages, in the hope that you can get them onto groups.io at some point.

if so, I guess the biggest difference, aside from having the manual work about adding the members, is that the ?archives would not be transferred over? Rightz.

Re: Members that are Not Confirmed

Still totally confused.
I sent the message you recommended to the few that had the NC note.
No one has ever mentioned having to confirm.
I verified that their address was valid from another source that is verifiable.
No one has ever sent a message to me saying they do not get messages.
